Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, the authors of the "Left Behind" series, issued a statement clarifying that Obama is likely not the Antichrist in the Book of Revelation.

Or maybe the fact that these modern-day prophets are saying that Obama "likely isn't" the Antichrist is itself a sinister portent! Because the Antichrist is obviously going to be somebody that nobody would ever suspect. It's all a devilish riddle wrapped inside an enigma. Beware!

Obama is also not the Easter Bunny nor is he Santa Claus or the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

But--would someone PLEASE ask these nutcases why they always seem so afraid of said "AntiChrist" figure, when according to their little storybook, his arrival would mean the Rapture, God's Great Glass Elevator to Heaven, would be at hand? Hence, why aren't they actively seeking to elevate said AntiChrist to power (instead of seemingly postponing his arrival) and punching their ticket to tranquility that much sooner?

Oh, that's right, there I go again applying rational thought to religion. Pardon me.

slightly off topic:

excelent pice by C. Hayes in the Nation about the Obama voter registration drives going on in places like Georgia. This is their plan: (a) half a million African Americans are not registered to vote in Ga; (b) register them (c) if half of those newly registered vote, Obama wins.

I like. Shouldn't we be seeing more reportage on this stuff?

Also today: made my first donation-- Obama's fundraising letter was pretty good. Not sure what list he used to get me. Possibly Hillary's??

@9: If all of those living humans at the rapture go to heaven anyway, aren't they technically dead? Or will there be cliques in heaven: "I was like totally alive when the rapture happened." "Ew, you were? I've been dead for a thousand years."

That reminds me of when Obama was on Colbert and when Obama said (in reply to Colbert's question) that "[he had] no plans to enslave the white race" Colbert jumped on the "no plans" and pointed out that it was not a categorical denial of intention.
