My guess is he will brush this aside the way he brushed aside the Iraqi's desire to get us out as well. The Bush administration looks increasingly like it is trying to make Iraq a non-issue by getting agreements from the Iraqi's that will undermine Obama.

Maybe, but among the state-side armchair tough-guy with a "Support Our Troops" bumper-sticker demographic McCain is still tops.

We are Gergians now, McCain said. Well, he can go. Saakashvili needs help. He has lost his war.

So, gee, it looks like the SMALL PROPORTION OF TROOPS WHO DONATE MONEY TO PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS TEND TO support the guy that McCain said would rather lose a war than lose a campaign.

Maybe they don't want to go on a 4th deployment to fight in an arid shithole with "sand n!ggers" and "towel heads" anymore.

From what I understand from returning men who no longer have to serve (and can speak freely), everybody hates it, they've lost comrades and friends, their wising up to how useless the Iraq war is, they'd rather be in Afghanistan, ect.

Poor dudes/dudettes

You mean troop, Ziggity. "Troops" would imply more than one.

I hear the massive support for McCain's stance has doubled turnout at his fundraisers - now he gets 40 people in a room instead of 20.

Hey remember that post Dan put up about the fat woman who rolled over in her sleep onto a baby and killed it. Gawd-I'm still laughing. Someone mentioned how horrible it must be for that women to have killed that child. Dan of course has the right attitude about the incident. Who gives a fuck about that woman and kid. We sloggers have been amused-now let's move on to the next big thing.

Well, this is a little like the fact that all the people who are ACTUALLY at risk for terrorist attacks (i.e. people who live in big cities) vote Democratic. All those folks in Kansas who say that Republicans will keep us safer really have lots to fear . . .
