Can someone verify this?

Darn, it's so too bad I'm gay, or I could get married, and my partner of 15 years (an uninsured full-time student) could get health coverage on my plan.

But that would defile the sanctity of marriage, wouldn't it, and I'm a wicked, wicked person even to think of it.

1. 520 needs to be replaced, and any replacement is going to be expensive.
2. No state income tax.
3. Sales tax is closed to maxed out.
4. State voters will rebel if they're asked to pay too much extra gas tax for a Seattle bridge they never use.
5. Taxing only 520 means that the individual toll is so high that too many people will drive the extra miles to use I-90. This means I-90 drivers end up paying the cost in congestion for a bridge they don't use.
6. Having a region-wide highway tolling system might make sense in the long run, and would result in low per-trip tolls, but all of the non-bridge drivers would have a huge conniption fit about subsidizing the lake commute.
7. That leaves one option, tolling both bridges, starting right away, to bring down the per-trip toll to a reasonable level and discourage drive-arounds, while still raising all the necessary revenue to build a replacement bridge.

Anyone who whines about it needs to come up with an alternate plan that is actually politically and fiscally viable. There isn't one.

Sadly, they can't vote.
