Charles, you are 100% right. Thanks for working the convention. Now please go out and party, with Slog's blessing.

Like I said in an earlier comment thread, my biggest issue with the Mile High stage is that it appears to be an almost exact replica of the one used at the GOP convention in 2004; which I figured was sort of the point.

But then, wing-nuts have never been credited for having good long-term memories.

I was out all night and just put on C-SPAN since they're the only ones with anything really on at the moment. They were showing the Obama and Biden families waving a ton and then leaving the becolumned set, all the while playing this movie-soundtrack type classical music that really made it seem like something destructive was about to happen. Yikes.

Yes it's a spectacle and grand - just like Odrama all glitter and no substance.

@3,

That was played on PBS too. Creepy.

Better a "spectacle and grand" than just tired and entitled like McCain. But some people will buy anything, eh Odrama?

Or perhaps you're bitter because your pantsuit didn't fit?

Either way, bitter becomes you. Please keep it up.

What most people fail to notice is that all these corps. that own the media are RIGHT WING and throwing their money in that direction. What the fuck do you expect they are going to say? Honestly, nothing between now and Sept. 26, when the first debate is, is admissable points of view in my eyes.

I'm a traditionalist. A hard traditionalist. I love my country and would fight and die for her.

If this man, Barack Hussein Obama - this Marxist/Communist/Liberal, this treasonous muslim traitor, is elected, and liberal Marxist Communist policies like government health care and abortion on demand and the continued promotion of the homosexual lifestyle are enacted, I will not be able to stand by her.

I will have to fight her, and I sense that many will join me in the streetzs fighting for the liberty that a Marxist/Communist/Liberal treasonous traitor that Barack Hussein Obama seeks to destroy.

If this man wins, you better make sure you have plenty of canned food and C-rations on hand. This could be the bloodiest battle since the war between the states.

@13,

We already have abortion on demand. Why aren't you starting this civil war now? Or are just too big of a pussy?

Move to Saudi Arabia. They'll just love you there.

I hear The U.S. Army is still looking for a few good men.

Give me your address, and I'll be more than honored to drive you to the nearest recruiting station.

The right has become a bunch of whiners.

The right were always a bunch of whiners. They hate pork barrel projects, unless they're military spending in rural southern states. They hate welfare, unless it's for farmers. They hate big government, unless it's rebuilding the shitbox house they bought in a hurricane/tornado/flood zone.

Barry Goldwater's Republican Party at least had a moral baseline. The Republicans that have been running the show since Reagan are unselfconscious whining hypocritical little bitches who, contrary to their own press, mostly can't fight (in spite of committing a horrifying number of violent crimes), can't shoot (in spite of owning a closet full of guns), and can't repair their own cars (which they usually own two or three of). Republicans are already blaming the consequences of eight years of Republican mistakes on two years of Democratic control of Congress, because God knows the world would come to a fucking end if they accepted responsibility for what they've done.

They're shortsighted, mendacious and morally adrift. Of course they're whiners. It's all they've got.

The American people will not allow the traditions that made this country great to be undermined by a Marxist/Communist/Liberal working in concert with the Muslims.

Mark my words: If Barack Hussein Obama is elected, the streets of America will run with the blood of liberals.

It is my dream to destroy liberalism.

Forever.

I know Lord Basil is probably joking, but threatening Barack Obama's life and the lives of other Americans is probably not the smartest thing to do on the web. Just saying.

Is the American Right now a mortally wounded animal, growling impotently at its former prey, or merely an incompetent bullshit artist, standing in a corner, holding a paintbrush dripping with failed ideology, complaining about the corner it has now painted itself into?

Either way, looking forward to the Obama-McCain debates. Cassius Clay vs. Fred MacMurray. Now that will be a spectacle to enjoy.
