Man, this whole post proves my point that a pothead without his fix is like a mom of three kids in the morning before her latte.

Dan's anger had emboldened the entire SLOG...

If only for a minute.

I had to scroll back up to the top of this post because I was thinking "surely this isn't Dan writing..."

I would love to hear how the accused SFCHs defend themselves on this issue.

not "The pot their ripping out of the ground"

s.b. "The pot they're ripping out of the ground"

they + are = they're

4000/16 = 250/ounce. that's a bargain if its the good stuff. try 5000/pound.

I noticed the same Lacitis article and High Times quote and thought it was pretty amusing that he didn't bother to ask the High Times guy, while he was at it, for any other opinion.

However, none of this pisses me off as much as the rampant use of "itch" as a transitive verb. Grrrr.

These posts push me towards supporting the drug war.

I had a bad case of erik lacitis a couple months ago. Fortunately it only took a week to clear-up after some antibiotics.

Well, as I smoke this totally fine ass Canadian Bud I'm going to count my lucky stars for getting the hell out of the Puritan States of America. I love my country-men but seriously, haven't you all had enough of being told what to do by people you've never met? Seriously... Weed may not be legal here but at least I can't remember the last time I heard of someone getting arrested for it.

Seattle Times calls our house about twice a month. We used to fuck with them saying we can't read, or we prefer the Yukon Hearld.
I tell ya'. . .we are always thinking! and a few weeks ago came up with a new line. . .last night they called and we finally got to use it!
We told them, "no, we don't want your paper. We prefer the Stranger because they report better on the failing war on drugs and DEA raids gone bad much better then yours."

JessB, I am tired of people I never met telling me what my development should look like.

Both those reporters probably smoked a bit of dope themselves thus are hypocritical credulous hacks.

Bellevue Ave: What the hell are you talking about? Who told you what your development should look like.

Why are they wasting our tax dollars doing this?

That's probably the first time the prohibitionists actually underestimated street value.

Dan, you should give some kind of award to mainstream journalists who get it right. I nominate Jack Shafer at Slate, who periodically runs pieces titled "Stupid Drug Story of the Week."

I wouldn't be so quick to get all smug about Canada on this one, JessB. What I would give to be able to walk into a Safeway and buy a bottle of wine like most Americans can! Here, only Quebec is civilized enough to sell it in grocery stores right next to the cheese, where it belongs.

Plus, decent wine is way cheaper in the US.

@17, isn't it because the DEA is an enforcement agency enforcing, you know, laws? Federal crimes?

So every time that Dan reports a youth pastor getting busted for diddling some kid, in order to not be a credulous hack, he needs to balance his reporting with a quote from a NAMBLA or sex with kids advocate about how much money the federal government is wasting on enforcement of pedophilia statutes?

I know pot smokers do not = pederasts, but I'm not sure I get what KUOW or the Seattle Times are doing wrong by reporting that a drug bust took place.

@20: Dan does not make the same claim to lofty journalistic ethics and balance that the Times and PI do.

@2 The Stranger is generally pro-pot. Get over it or read something else.

Youth Pastor Watch gives the lie to the frequently made assertion, which almost always go unchallenged, that there is no morality without religion, that religious people are morally superior to non-religious people, etc. It is a retort, an aside, not a news story.

But thank you for playing Slog.

I know too many stinking potheads. I don't need to read their quotes in any newspapers. Thank yopu.

Dan,
You could not hold Erik Lacitis' journalistic jock --yes, that's your sort of image, and level of humor, and realm of your journalism.

Here's a tip, dip stick. Try not to talk about anyone's journalism. You guys just make shit up.

Half the time, I think the DEA et all are the ones actually setting up these grow ops, just to give themselves something to do.

Hey Dan: FYI, $2000/lb is more than the price of gold. ($82.21/ounce or $1,315.36 at the time of this posting.)

@30
That's $821/oz, not $82.10. Gotta watch those decimal points...
