Can I wrte in Al Gore?
If Obama and Clinton had both gotten about 18 million votes but Clinton got the nod, I'd sure be arguing Obama should be VP.
And I htink the Obama supporters in this situation would feel shocked and betrayed if he didn't get it.
Bill Richardson couldn't win one primary. Nor Biden.
The proud dead-enders won't vote for empty-suit Oobamba no mater who he picks. Go HRC 2012!!!
Why are people voting for Hillary-goddamned-Clinton? Sheesh.
This isn't about who individually won primaries.
This is about:
1) who will be a better VP;
2) who will help Obama get elected;
3) who will be the better advisor;
4) who is ready to be president if something were to happen to Obama.
I don't think that Clinton is the best choice (see conditions 1 and 2), I do think that Biden and Richardson would be great though.
Why would people want to vote empty-suit no-talent Barrak-fuking-Obama? Sheeee-it
Hillary Clinton is POISON.
Unfortunately, @3, that didn't happen, so your only prescience is one of loss. Tell it to President Gore.
They may resist bi-racial Obama at the top of the ticket, but no white male voter of any economic strata, political persuasion, or age group can resist the allure of Tiger.
Is there a way to ban Clintonsarmy's IP address or something? I don't care what nom de plume s/he uses, it's just tired.
Because someone who fucked her way into contention is so much more qualified?
Has Hillary Clinton had the administrative experience of governing a state? Has Hillary Clinton had the policy experience of being a Cabinet-level official (for energy, no less)? Has Hillary Clinton had the diplomatic experience of negotiating with rogue states and terrorists?
No, no, and no.
Yes, yes, and yes.
The only thing Hillary has experience doing is fucking Bill (and even that's debatable) and then riding his coattails into using a US Senate seat as an entry-level political position. Oh, and she jacked up the health care task force as First Lady, which... guess what... she shouldn't have been working on anyway, because the role of First Lady is NOT A POLICY ROLE.
You people voting for Hillary are out of your effing minds.
P.S. Republicans DESPISE her.
You should abort this fiasco of a poll and redo it in such a way that people can rank their preferences.
I'd be happy with either Biden or Richardson, both earnest competent known quantities.
But I am very much paranoid about the Bradley Effect, people....
I'm getting ready for a LOT more time overseas if Senator Arizona T. Fossil wins.
What is the Bradley effect?
Why won't Hillary just go away?
Shouldn't it be "Whom" should Obama pick?
She's going down!
Obama has you all fooled on the timing of the VIP pick. He's hinting at Wednesday just to continue the press drum beat. It won't happen by Wed...
you guys are so easy.
Bradlet Effect, named for former LA Mayor Tom Bradley when he ran for CA Gov.
Opinion polls had Bradley ahead leading up to election day. Lost election.
People told pollsters they had no problem voting for black candidate. Changed their minds in privacy of voting booth.
None of us know the results of the vetting team's background checks and FBI records, so we don't know what secret timebombs these candidates are carrying around. Even if someone looks good to us, he or she could be death in the general.
Trick question -- no one on that list is suitable VP material.
I'd rather have Clinton as Veep than Biden.
But hey, I voted for Richardson cause he's a better choice.
NO!! Biden is a corporate sell-out and owned by the credit card companies.
I'd rather have Biden than Clinton, but rather Richardson than either of them.
Frankly, I'd rather have Richardson than Obama, becuase of his (Richardson's) resume, but he didn't inspire the masses, I guess.
The CW has it that Obama needs help with Hispanic voters. Richardson can give that help.
I disagree with you!!!
Biden's a shill for credit card companies (he represents Delaware, for Christ's sake), and Richardson for energy companies. Either way, Obama would be reaching out to bring these important constituents on board for our campaign of hope and change.
Pick your poison... Please back up your assertion that Richardson is a "shill" for energy companies. Which energy companies? What kind of energy? (Green? Renewable?) And what exactly does he do that makes him a shill?
Green? Renewable? Laughable. Energy secretary in a pro-business administration, sat on the boards of two large energy companies, selling his holding just last year. My favorite, although not energy-related, worked for Henry Kissinger as a lobbyist.
I'm guessing clinton's army/hrc12 is, perhaps, voting multiple times for Hillary. Almost compulsively, from multiple computers, even. You can go ahead and take 8% away from Hillary now. Hah.
Which energy companies? What kind of energy?
Why aren't you answering the question?
Because I would think a big supporter like you would know that Diamond Offshore Drilling isn't putting up windmills.
And Valero Energy Corporation produces solar power at their refineries.
The misogyny of these anti-Clinton posts is disgusting. It's exactly this attitude from the more fanatical Obama supporters that has Hillary supporters so hesitant to join Obama's camp. Saying Hillary fucked her way into power is just as bad as saying Obama came to power through liberal guilt. Biden is going to make a great VP, but Obama supporters need to acknowledge the fact that almost half the party wanted Clinton, and respect that.
@36: Links please.
@37 -- whatever good feelings sane Democrats once had about Hillary (and Bill) have been ground out of us by her batshit-crazy, loathsome supporters
There's nothing misogynistic with pointing out that Hillary would not be a political figure of note if she wasn't sleeping with someone who was. She did jackshit as First Lady and she did jackshit in the Senate.
Sorry, but attacking Hillary isn't the same as attacking all women. She is not a feminist icon. At least not to real feminists.
it's comforting to know that a lot of sloggers (the ones with taste, of course) share my mutual affection for Bill Richardson. i'd love to see him shore up the democratic party, solidify a national hispanic vote, pick up some of the southwestern red squiggly bits and re-hash his excellent foreign policy cred.
@ 40 - yes it is misogynistic. Hillary is very intelligent and has held her own through being in the public eye and being constantly and venomously attacked by the extreme right. So what if she has a politically successful husband? She has every right and ability to have her own career. I am a "real feminist" as you put it, and Hillary is a feminist icon to me. Hillary and Bill are an example of an old school marriage in transition to a new school marriage so to speak. And you don't know shit about their sex life. All we can tell is how supportive they have been for eachother. I am extremely impressed at how hard Bill campaigned for Hillary. They seem to be equals with an enormous amount of faith and respect in eachother's professional abilities. How many boomer marriages demonstrate that? Hillary is courageous and broke down a lot of barriers running for president as a middle-aged woman. I am so proud of her.
That said, Obama is also a great man and here's to hoping he wins!!!!!
I would say Richardson is needed to bring in the Hispanic vote. However, could he be held in contempt for running with an African American by the Hispanic population ? The next choice would be whoever is from the state with the most electoral votes. New Mexico doesn't have very many. Whoever is most qualified to step in for the president is not even part of the equation.
