Yeah, take a good long look at those WHITE people standing there; a smorgasbord of rightwing fuckwads.

I stopped going to Piecora's when it started having Sunday church services. Too bad because I liked their pizza.

To be fair, Elizabeth, that corner was a magnet for white people. I don't know if they all came together or what. The immigrants in suits stood directly in front of the Honorable Secretary.

Factcheck: Carlos Gutierrez never obtained a college degree.

And the big prize goes to RonK. Thanks for the correction.

Obama deserves a vacation - a real, 2 weeks long, lazy, sundrenched, smoke-all-the-cigarettes-he-wants, fruity-drinks-on-the-beach, sleep late, screw-michelle-silly vacation.

He took down the Clinton machine, which is hard work, and he's not going to get another REAL vacation till Jan. 20, 2017.

The fact that he wants this crap job at all is reason enough to elect him.

Um, could be a mistake to go to Hawaii and lounge for a week. That's not the message we need right now. As the link says, "Perhaps more worrisome for Obama, a new poll shows voters may be tiring of him. So he will fulfill a popular workplace dream: a weeklong getaway on a sunny island. Apart from a fundraising event Tuesday, Obama's plan is to rest, not troll for votes, aides said."

C'mon. He could do 3 hours of events each day and still have a vacation. HE could fly to AK midweek and put it in play with one big speech (20K would be huge for Alaska they only have about 300K voters I think) for real and nail the GOP as tied to Stevens poster boy pf ocrruption and bribery. Then take a few days there.

Do you not see that GOP will say Congress is on vacation, Obama is on vacation, those Dems don't care about your rising gas prices? There will be photos of Obama playing with his kids in the surf whilst others of us Americans will be feeling pain at the gas pumps, and those will be composited into GOP ads?

I think if he needs rest we could satisfy that need and keep semblance of a campaign going and avoid the tropical luau music themed ads the GOP will run.

Holy fuck, I had no idea Piecora's was run by a right-wing tool. I shall never be back. (And that dude does NOT look Italian).

Yeah, I'm afraid that's the end of the line for me and Piecora's, too.

Two restaurants in one week that I can't go to anymore because the owners are right-wing fuckwads. Not a good week.

Anyone who has anything to do with the Discovery Institute is an asshole, far as I'm concerned.

@10,

What's the other one?

Don't let this make you stop going to Piecora's: the business is run by two brothers, one of them right-wing, the other left. The Capitol Hill Piecora's hosted the Dean meet-ups, back in the day, and they were tremendous supporters of a little anti-Bush feature film we made next door.

And seriously, some of you won't eat pizza because the guy who made it is a Republican?

The world is way too small to segregate ourselves for silly reasons like that. Go get a slice and tell Danny he's wrong; my guess is that he'll be up for a debate.

@ 14) That's right. The owner of the "The Deluxe" is also a Republican.

Posted by Street Smart | August 7, 2008 7:55 PM

The owner of The Deluxe is a piece of shit. Any operation run by Suzie Burke will never see my dollar. Fuck Piecoras, Dean Meet-Ups or not. The only vote that matters in America is the one that pays the bills. The debate is over, Cogswell, these motherfuckers are murderers.

Bad reporting, plus racism on the side. A real reporter would have at least asked CG a question or three, such as about this program or all the many other things he was involved in.

The biggest betrayal is probably the presence of President Laura Roslin in the bottom picture.

I AGREE WITH 17 ALL REPORTERS ARE RACIST AGAINST PEOPLE OF COLOR! I CALL FOR A DAY OF SOLIDARITY AND A GENERAL STRIKE! MEET AT THE FEDERAL BUILDING AT 9 AM! WE'LL MARCH SOMEWHERE FROM THERE, AND WE WON'T STOP UNTIL OUR FEET HURT!

On a related note, any idea when that Zioncheck movie's coming out?

Hmmm...pretty ballsy to hold a GOP fundraiser on Capitol Hill. Mind you, I'll be punishing that ballsiness by not eating at Piecora's ever again.

Re: The Deluxe

The best reason not to eat there is because the food and service suck.

Going after Hispanics...in Seattle...near Capital Hill.

That's like Snake Pliskin heading into New York to save the President!

Republicans Rule!

Right @25, 'cause, you know, using the metaphor of sending a multiple-times convicted felon into a hotzone to pull a right-wing, law-and-order, string-'em-up CiC's ass out of the proverbial fire, it makes said right-wing preznit look soooo preznitential in comparison.

Nice job, suckah.

@21: Daddy Gyllenhaal was in the Stranger offices the other day, scouting locations. So... I'd guess the release date is one to two years in the future.

One fund raiser for a candidate you don't agree with and you are willing to abandon a pizza joint you otherwise adore? Get off you f-ing high horse people. This is madness and your demand that everyone you interact with think exactly like you is just as frightening as the extremism on the other side. Can it be that much of a shock to you that a small business owner is a Republican?

I guess it's a good thing I never go there then.

Posted by NapoleonXIV | August 8, 2008 10:02 AM

uh, yeah, why DOES Capitol Hill go to Piecora's? The owner's a wanker who's diametrically opposed to what the vast majority of Capitol Hillians believe in, and more importantly, the pizza sucks...

I stopped eating @ Piecora's in the early '90s as it was filled with junkies, cokeheads and tweakers. I was honestly afraid of finding a needle in my salad.

If you want another Five Year Plan of Failure, McSame's your hombre.

Just don't expect a refund after he completes the looting of America for the top 0.1 percent of Americans while the rest of us starve.

the folks at Piecoras are some of the most open and friendly to opposing viewpoints as I've ever come across. While they do support some right-wing freak-o's, they warmly embrace everyone and will respect and defend everyone's right to believe as they wish. It's pretty lame to disassociate oneself from another human being just because they believe something different than you.

@29, @37, @38: So you've never heard of economic sanctions or boycotts? That's all this is. If you support the Bush/McCain policies of endless pre-emptive wars, for-profit prisons and warrantless wiretaps, then I'm going to avoid spending a single penny at your establishment if I can.
