Heck, I'm just pissed at my friends who are still creating Clintonites for McCain groups on Facebook.

Move on, people!

You have friends, Will? I'm surprised. You have friends who are McCain voters? No, I'm not surprised.

Leave it to New Mexico to actually have a smoke filled room with lobbyists literally rubbing elbows. There's a joke that in New Mexico, everyone has two cousins in Santa Fe, one in the legislature and one in the penitentiary, and that every few years, they switch places.

Please keep perspective.

The vast majority of HRC supporters are on baord already. Take me. I have donated to Obama and talk about Obama to my friends and wear these nifty Obama togs.

I suspect most of the convention delegates will be on board very soon.

Theproblem is notthe party activists.

The problem is the voters. When Obama chose to pass over Hillary, he gave up a chance to immediately get that slice of voters whom Hillary had reached. those swing voters in Scranton and Youngstown that Obama comm. dir. Gibbs said are the key to the whole election yesterday.

It doesn't matter what goes on on Slog or in circles where people thinka nd talk about politics a lot. Those are not the circles of those voters.

The more people like @2 call them names, the harder this task will be.

this task is now doable is Obama (a) gets specific (b) acts nicer to the Clintons instead of treating them as nothings -- Michelle's line yesterday was a good step(c) if Obama would fucking attack McCain instead of getting lauded just because he reacts to McCain's attacks on him.

It's not enough to say dumb McCain he has 7 houses. You have to then connect that to what Obama is going to do for those folks in Youngstown and Scranton.

Clinton, btw, was really good at this.

Obama should go watch clips of Clinton campaigning in 1992 and figure out how to reach those voters.

Then -- we can win.

Simple.

Bemoaning the fact that certain slices of the electorate aren't with you is pretty useless waste of time.

Check out the Bob Herbert column today in NYT. If you buy the fact that America is racist, as most Obama folks think, then the reality is when you read a poll that's even it really means Obama's behind.

You have a choice. You can yell and scream at those voters who aren't on board yet, or you can ask them for their support and explain to them why Obama is good for them. In dollars and cents, in terms of foreclosures avoided, jobs gained, and so on.

"I am a transcendental candidate who will bring change" ain't going to do it. "You are little bitches, the lot of you. How petty, self-serving, and small. Die in a fire, you little drones" ain't going to do it.

And guess what. They do hear about remarks like that through the grapevine. They know you fucking arrogant coastal elite snobs hate them. You think you're invisible over here on the internet? You think Chris MAtthews on national TV trying to lead a crowd in chanting "burn her at the wstake" while pointing at a HRC helps?

Keep it up. Obama's been dropping in the polls, his supporters admit a tie is really a loss, and all I see is juvenile name calling by some Obama supporters.

Fucking brilliant way to build unity. Fucking way to be the change we seek. Fucking way to be hopeful and inclusive.

Tell folks they're jerks, then ask for their vote. That's the new politics you espouse?
Fucking brilliant.

who's really displaying the "Deliverance"- level IQ in this picture?

Look, PC or whatever your name is - how many times do you have to be told?

IF YOU WANT A PROGRESSIVE TICKET IN THE WHITE HOUSE COME JANUARY - OBAMA/BIDEN IS YOUR CHOICE.

If you just want to kick over the castle and storm out of the sandbox because your candidate FAILED TO WIN the nomination, that's ALSO YOUR CHOICE.

But, whichever choice you make YOU HAVE TO OWN IT.

Nobody owes Clinton a damned thing; she doesn't deserve, nor should she expect some sort of "free pass" just because she's a woman - or a Clinton. SHE LOST, plain-and-simple. End of story.

And you know damned well that if the situation were reversed, if SHE was the one getting the nod on Wednesday, and the Obama supporters were behaving the way many of you are currently, you-all would be saying EXACTLY THE SAME THING we're telling you now: GET WITH THE PROGRAM.

Unless of course, you WANT four (or eight) more years of the CRAP we've collectively had to put up with from a flagrantly corrupt, appallingly inept, and selfishly arrogant GOP Executive, then by all means, go ahead and have your little hissy-fit, and see what THAT gets you.

Just don't expect ANYONE who has worked for real progressive change during this campaign season to piss on you if you were on fire, after the fact.

@PC - Give it up. Obama made the rational - if risky - decision that bringing Hillary on the ticket wasn't worth the chore of governing with Bill and Hillary in the shadows.

Hillary isn't Everywoman. It's time that meme died. Hillary is - first and foremost - a Clinton, and that's why she needs to stay far, far away from the White House.

PC: you don't represent anybody. When I tell you to fuck off, and shut your motherfucking trap, as I am doing now, I'm not talking to "Clinton supporters" or "women voters" or any kind of voters at all. I'm talking to YOU.

I know you want your ass kissed, endlessly, but it's not going to happen. You reek.

PC to Obama campaign: "Get On Message."

CNN: "'You haven't heard about Iraq or John McCain or George W. Bush — I haven't heard any of this. We are a country that is in a borderline recession, we are an 80 percent wrong-track country. Health care, energy — I haven't heard anything about gas prices,' [James] Carville also says. . . . .'right now, we're playing hide the message.' Carville also said.

. . .'If this party has a message it's done a hell of a job hiding it [Monday night], I promise you that,' he said."

Carville's just wrong. Both health care and gas prices were mentioned last night.

PC is right about one thing: a lot of the hold-out Clintonites are "on board" at this point, to the extent that they're content to bitch about Obama, claim that Hillary would fix everything, and then grudgingly admit that they will vote Dem in November.

But it's not enough for those folks to just be "on board" anymore. No, now it's time for them to fall in line. Quit your bitching, quit casting doubt, swallow your damn pride and fall in line. Your candidate lost fair and square, time to put it all behind you because this is politics, not Little League. No one owes you a trophy just because you participated but came in second. This shit is winner-take-all, so be good Democrats and jump in lock-step with the rest of us marching Obama toward the White House.

You know? If I could've reached through the radio this morning to slap the Clinton delegates I heard on NPR, I would've. They're not voting for McCain, but they're not certain they'll vote for Obama come fall, either. Fuck all y'all. One woman was all, like, Obama hasn't *asked* me for my vote. Really? I think by "asked" she meant "begged". Stupid.

And then it dawned on me. For every prissy Clinton delegate who refuses to get on board, the Obama campaign has probably registered one hundred new voters who are enthusiastic and can't wait to vote. Chew on that, you stupid PUMAs.

@16-18 PLEASE do!

Please, for god sake, quit asking Democrats do kiss your ass. If you like McCain, vote for the fucker! Give him money! Which part of go fuck yourself do you not understand? Obama could have done so much for HRC. The vice presidency. Her campaign debt. Her unemployed staffers and henchmen. Yet he turned his back on Hillary because he doesn't fucking need her or her supporters. He did the absolute minimum, if that, to kiss the Hillary deadenders' asses.

TAKE THE FUCKING HINT! If you don't like Obama, then you are a McCain supporter. Start acting like it and quit all this bitching.

@18 We need all Dems to vote for Obama in order to win this year.

But some HRC supporters think that the rest of us should beg for their votes. As if somehow your votes are more important than anyone else's because there are 18 million of you that picked the losing candidate in the primary. That. Is. Horseshit.

Posted by Hernandez | August 26, 2008 11:18 AM

well, of course he needs most of the HRC supporters, but why does he need to beg for their support?

"I'm sooooo sorry I beat your Chosen One; I know I'm not fit to wash her and Bill's limo, but won't you find it in your heart to forgive me and support me come November? Puh-leeeeeeeze?"

Fuck that. If the radical HRC nuts need that, then they DO need to get on board the first train bound for the Cassandra Crossing...

I'm very fucking sorry that as a REAL adult and a REAL democrat that I cannot once again, go for the Kerry, Dukakis, Mondale. . . . and YES. . . . GORE crap that you little children keep nominating. I did it 4 times; yes that's 4 times and you little fucking turds were too hung over to show up and make it happen. I have integrity and will write in Clinton. No hurt; no fowl to Obama. Keep this shit up and I'll vote for McCain; hope he wins and move to my land in remote Alaska, letting all of you live with my choice.

I actually believe that Fnarf (the wirey butt hole hair) and Hernanadez (the spic) are actually McCain supporters just trying to get us pissed off at Obama to vote for McCain. And I'm sure that now that I've offended them with fowl language that they'll "get on board" with me and vote for Hillary!

I can't think about the content of this post because I'm hung up on the phrase "seemingly 100-years-old". The Brown Palace opened in 1892. It's not "seemingly" 100 years old. It in, in fact, 116 years old.

@PC @12: Dude/ette, did you not read the list of what is happening at the convention?? There are days devoted to certain topics. DUH. Yesterday was "one country/unity" etc.

And the fact that the MSNBC people were saying that it wasn't on message obviously can't read either. I was literally screaming at the TV, "There is an agenda for the whole week you morons! Each day has the theme, LEARN TO READ!"

A foul mouthed Fnarf - surprising. Agree or I curse, funny on a gray day.

Hillary was Obama's ticket to the White House. Whatever else, that is my opinion and the opinion of millions of good Dems.

He blew it for whatever reasons. Now the fight is harder, maybe a close win or maybe a close loss ....

Sure glad most of the dings posting here were not doing strategy on any campaign I have worked on. Fuck em' does not yield support in any political contest.

Two Northern Dems. is also a new concept to win the White House.

Part of the Great Change that ignores the electoral college?

Ted Kennedy, bless his heart and all the Clinton people will not substitute for a not smart and not well run effort - lacking at the moment.

And I bet they shelve both Clintons - fearing them. Bill in the South and Hillary in the NE could give him the votes - but then, might have to say thanks ...

I will send Obama another 500. - I don't know a single Republican - but - I am scared. Washington will be Obama, no matter what, but maybe we are insulated from the real battle too.

Hope the Children's Crusade works.

(Hilary will be on the political stage to death. Like it or not. And I think she will be the first woman president. Who else? Oh, Ms Roosevelt's ghost)

Listen Derwood, everything you wrote above is bullshit - absolute bullshit. You want to be able to talk all the shit you can about Obama and his supporters, but then you get all snotty when people rebut you or talk shit back. That's also known as dishing out what you can't take. Weak sauce, dude. As if that shit weren't enough, you're now calling people spics & faggots. Are you for fucking real? What sewer did you slither out of? Jay-zus. If this asshole is representative of the folks who don't want to vote for Obama, then good fucking riddance, shitheads. I think our commenting is a little off topic...

Personally, as a Democrat, I would have voted for Hillary or Obama, whichever made the ballot. It doesn't matter who I preferred originally, because now Obama will be on the ballot in November.

Sorry that Hillary didn't make the VP pick, but no amount of complaining is going to change that.

Regardless, a democratic voter should remain a democratic voter. Why would you suddenly vote for a Republican who supports few or none of your beliefs? Just because you were pissed that Hillary didn't make the ballot in any respect?

I think the real issue here is: who is the lesser of two evils? If you were going to vote for Hillary in the beginning, you should be at least voting for a member of the same party in November. We don't want McCain, do we?

Or I guess you could just continue to sit on the floor, pout, and cry to mommy. That would definitely be the most productive thing to do.

What Pelz fails to understand is that HE could have avoided a lot of this if he'd made sure Hillary's historic run had been celebrated (or at least recognized!) at the WA State convention in Spokane, in June. I attended that convention as an HRC delegate, and it was appalling how dismissive Pelz and others were about Hillary. There was barely a mention of her candidacy the entire weekend. This, for a candidate that garnered at least half the popular vote. NOT ONE WORD thanking the thousands of volunteers in our state alone who had gone to the mat for her, volunteering for her, showing up and being good democrats. Not a word! The entire delegation was very upset about this.

Sad to say, I heard of similar treatment of HRC delegates at state conventions across the country. This treatment illustrates the MISSED OPPORTUNITY for real unity by the DNC. Unconscious people, all of them!

We are adults, not crybabies like the media enjoys portraying us -- and don't need Barack to come hat in hand to woo us. ICK. But the dismissive attitude from Pelz and other democratic leaders across this state and nation has completely screwed up the entire nomination.

Someone like Pelz telling me to "get on board?" Sorry, it ain't workin' for me. I feel sorry for our state delegates. DNC, you guys just don't get it, do ya? You really blew it this time, all the way around.
