Perhaps this was covered, but apparently he said the VP choice is someone who's independent, "he" will push me in debating policy in the white house, and "he" is strong on the economy.

Well that's HRC obviously. It certainly doesn't describe Biden, he had no economic gravitas.

BTW the VP teasing is good for getting more e mail addresses but not much else and it will be forgotten as soon as VP choice is made; meanwhile it is obsuring his economic message which is needed to get the swing voters on board.

What I don't understand is why they are announcing the VP choice on a Saturday. NO ONE reads the news on Saturday. Why not wait until Monday, and do it when everyone is at work, trolling CNN?

Also, why did he say that he has picked and that he isn't telling us yet. It makes him sound like an asshat. Goddamn you Obama, if you lose this election I'll best #21's left nut.

Yes, he's ramping up the excitement and messing with us a bit, but he's also messing with McCain. I think Obama has been pretty clever about this. The buzz was that he would announce on Wednesday, which led the McCain camp to plan for a Friday announcement, thinking they would "own the weekend." Obama stalls, generates buzz, and will announce at some point today. McCain can either try to compete with that or wait till next week some time. Most likely he'll have to wait now, giving Obama several huge press days leading in to the convention.
