Now THAT’s Chutzpah

posted by on August 5 at 16:04 PM

In her column two days ago, Maureen Dowd not only blamed anonymous “feminists” for failing to defend Michelle Obama against sexists now painting her as a “harridan,” but stated as fact—without one shred of evidence—that “some” die-hard Hillary supporters now “mutter darkly” that they’ll “never vote for a man again.”

Now, I know it’s not beyond MoDo to make crazy claims without substantiating them—hell, it isn’t beyond her to pretend to file columns from places she hasn’t even been—but these fictitious straw-PUMAs are just too much. And for Dowd—one of the biggest champions of the Hillary-as-heartless-harridan meme back when Clinton was still in the race—to blame feminists (again, without evidence—indeed, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary) for failing to defend Michelle Obama against similar charges is so hypocritical it makes me want to spit.

On the other hand, this is the same woman who refers to Obama incessantly as “exotic”—which is barely even veiled—and wonders, based on a fabricated, debunked story in the Wall Street Journal whether Obama is too much of a “beanpole” to be President.

ECB, come join us Obama supporters against a common enemy: Maureen Dowd and her fellow glib fuckers in the media!

Maureen Dowd's hatred of Clinton and fawning over Odrama makes you wanna puke all over her freaking face.

Dowd, while often very silly, is not the only person out there wondering where the feminist defense of Michelle Obama is (and I admit I've wondered a bit myself):

Do feminists exist?

i think by "feminists" she means the old-guard, feminists who fell out of relevance years ago, but whom the media still run to when they need a feminist point-of-view. you know, your robin morgans and gloria steinems and geraldine ferarros. all of whom were quick to express their disdain when hillary was on the receiving end, but don't seem to have much to say in michelle o's defense.

All feminists are racist! I call for a national strike and day of solidarity. We will march on the federal building at 9am tomorrow.

I don't get why ECB's "fictious straw-PUMA" link goes to a RawStory post about actual PUMA's protesting Howard Dean. Is ECB implying that all stories about PUMAs are fictitous? If so, that is bullshit. Hopefully that is not the case.

jealous much?

let's see, ECB working at the free sex ad p.o.s. weekly in Seattle.

or Maureen Dowd, celebrated columnist for the New York Times.

Maybe I could see this attack differently if you weren't so vile and vindictive in your own coverage of Obama.

@13: No, I'm referring to Dowd's fictitious hordes of women who will never vote for any man, in any election, ever again.

@8. That doesn't even make any sense. Not that that should surprise me coming from you. But, the "she's working for McCain" thing only works if she's saying something negative about Obama or something that would help McCain.

Where Dowd filed the story from is an extreme non issue and when you spout bullshit like this you hurt every other journalist around you. I wish that were an exaggeration but it's not. The Slog very commonly hurts the rest of the journalism world. Dowd did. nothing. wrong. And you have no sound reasoning for what she actually did. You simply post a link. That's Bill O' Reilly's tactic, too. So, wow.

It's odd how "feminists" defend strong women as long as they are white. When HRC's lesser half ran for pres the first time, they were heralded as a "power couple" but BHO and Michelle O are "radicals". -Just a thought.

Remember when this woman

http://reclusiveleftist.com

was posted here as a representative of women's righteous anger at Clinton's mistreatment? It's as clear as the sky today that the majority of the campaign feminism was nothing more than partisanship and pique. The feminism of a certain era of a career woman was indistinguishable from their personal identification with Clinton.

Obama wasn't even a legitimate candidate. He was the hot shot young guy who'd robbed a million women of the promotion they deserved. And now bereft of their candidate they've found a home in the stink of the folks who wanted to talk about how he's too uppity, too skinny, too elite, too proud.

Come back to papa. There's always a place saved for white feminists at the masters's table.

What's really scary though is that Dowd is working that BS made-up fucked-up quote about "beanpole guy".

MoDo is a troll. Its the only way to explain her presence in the NYT. She never says anything useful, insightful, informative or reflective.

Her technique is somewhat interesting, as she always maintains plausable deniability of the implications of her remarks, but since her only objective is to get a reaction, there's only one way to describe her. Troll.
