This Weekend: Naked Gay Soccer

Well, not entirely naked (though the organizing group did supply me with a photo racy enough to require placement behind a jump). At tomorrow’s Shorts vs. Shirts game, Rain City Soccer players will either be topless or bottomless, but not—NEVER!—both.

As Rain City says:

“Shirts vs Shorts, what the hell is that?”…It’s a soccer game, in the heart of Capitol Hill, in the middle of summer, where you can either wear a shirt, or you can wear shorts, but you can’t wear both. Team Shirts team can wear normal underwear, jocks, thongs, whatever as long as it shows off some skin, likewise for Team Shorts. There will be festivities afterward at the Elite.

If you wake up in the mood to watch a bunch of sporty gays run around and kick things in their underpants, show up at Cal Anderson Park at 10:00 am tomorrow.

This is so gay it actually warrants the use of "football" instead of "soccer."

I expect to see Eli Sanders there.

I'm so there; on the sidelines, of course. I will be a sports fan yet.

"...kick things in their underpants..."

Sounds like there could be a lot of sporty gays lying on the ground, curled into fetal positions, writhing in pain.

Is that what you-all consider "fun" nowadays?

The RSVP list on the Rain City site is handy for pre-ogling, but what does the (e) (s) (o) mean?

s=shirts / o=shorts / e=either, for those who are either versatile or coy about stating their preference before checking out their "opponents"

why why WHY can't something like this happen in St. Louis?

Three words that are good individually, but great when put together...

Nice teaser photo, but I have a feeling there may be more than a few peepaws with graying man-pelts and jiggling juggs running around that field.

@11 -- Probably. And there will also be some guys there who perfectly fit the dominant gay male aesthetic paradigm. The good news is, the players probably don't care what each other look like as much as the spirit and camaraderie each brings to the team. This game sounds fun and I bet an old sourpuss like you won't help is be a success. Snap!

I came. I saw. I was right.

@13 -- Hooray for you! While you were rating people's physical perfection based on an unoriginal, common scale, about 25 guys had a great time and thrilled the spectators with some very good footy. You = bitter. Teams = happy.

So very sorry.

I get it: You're the one in the pictures with the hairy cones swinging straight out like two binoculars.

Hi All,

Thanks for coming out. The sun came out 10 minutes before our game thus proving God loves gay naked soccer. Lots of fun was had by folks both on and off the field. Thanks for coming to the Elite too for drinks and pizza.

This was more about being silly and having fun though there are definitely some pictures from the event that will end up on my screen saver. Next year, we'll try to get a DQWM (drag queen with mic) to ref.

Cheers and thanks again. It was great to see as many people as we did on our first year of this. See you all next year :)
