Maverick Moment of the Day

posted by on August 13 at 12:45 PM

John McCain gets some pushback on his tough-guy Russia rhetoric… from the president of Georgia:

“Yesterday, I heard Sen. McCain say, ‘We are all Georgians now,’” Saakashvili said on CNN’s American Morning. “Well, very nice, you know, very cheering for us to hear that, but OK, it’s time to pass from this. From words to deeds.”

Meanwhile, Susan Rice makes the case that McCain is causing problems by putting out tougher Russia statements than the president (or Obama).

What's the matter with that guy? Total ingrate. I'm renouncing my Georgianess immediately.

It's not only inappropriate for a candidate to say, "We are all Georgians now," it's also easily the most trite and cliche thing he could have possibly said. I laughed my ass off when I heard he had said that. Seriously? What an assfaced asshead.

I hear Bush is sending the B-52s there right now.

Not the rock band. The planes.

(according to CNN)

I think what he's doing is, uh, "Giuliani-ing" - if I can make up a term. Soon after 9/11, I remember how most foreign leaders came to the fore with a remarkably similar statement "We are all Americans today."

Once again, he's cribbing from someone else.

Perhaps he's equating the siege of Georgia with the attack on New York - or, in senility, he's thinking Russia attacked the Georgia over here? South Ossetia and South Atlanta could sound similar to his withered eardrums.

Can you please have a new running feature called, "Senior Moment Of The Day" up until the election?

McCain is looking more ignorant, impulsive and irresponsible than Bush ever was. That's an impressive achievement, seeing as how Bush is our most ignorant, most impulsive, most irresponsible president ever.

The simple fact is, we are NOT all Georgians now, and it's none of our goddamn business, and even if it was we don't have any leverage at all. Putin's more likely to respond to a call from George Clooney than he is from George Bush or John McCain.

1)esp when 95% of American's think he's referring to the kind of Georgians who live in the Atlanta metro area...
2)people need to cut President Bushie some slack; the man is ON VACATION and hunting for some post-presidential booty opportunities, (see photos of Bush hanging out with the women's volleyball team in Beijing).
