onA thousand huzzahs for a comic artist who appeared on last year’s Stranger Genius Shortlist for Literature, David Lasky. He’s just signed a book deal with Abrams to co-write and illustrate a biography of the Carter Family.
Here are two panels of the work-in-progress, from Lasky’s LiveJournal announcement of the deal:
Congratulations to Lasky for finally getting started on what will no doubt be the first of many comic books published by a major publisher, and congratulations to Abrams for having good taste.

Huzzah for David! We need more comics by Mr. Lasky.
Yes, this is very exciting. Congrats Mr. Lasky!
But Paul, kudos would not be evenly applied without a nod and a smile toward Lasky's collaborator, writer Frank Young. So hurray for Lasky and for Young!
Congratulations, Mr. Lasky!
James Joyce is good preparation for doing the Carter family.
This is thrilling. I'm a big Carter Family fan.
