Because Polsky himself is a few shades darker than schmuck—something like Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm, if that show weren't a comedy—the book is a little bit of an uncomfortable read, and feels a little bit like a waste of time. The scene where he's at the Warhol Foundation and they bring out the little self-portrait painting for him to consider was amazingly well-written, IMHO. I don't know his personality so did not read it with that view...for a piker like me, I thought it was a good read.
