Since it was stated by motel staff that he rented a room often - the cops did not perceive hookers - male or female?

One night stands - men or women?

Lazy cops are the rel problem in this case.

Very sad and badly handled murder.

I was all set with a follow-up quip but then I read the story and it's just unbelievably sad. A 58-year old closeted man strangled in the motel he frequents for his clandestine trysts, and his family is so ashamed of his homosexuality that they hide all evidence of his "lifestyle" from police. Just as, years earlier when he was a child, they evidently covered up the fact that he had been molested by an older member of their church.

The whole thing reads like a morality tale on the deadly perils of denial and sexual repression.

Don't miss the matter-of-fact implication for mentioning the molestation in the first place, which is as a way of explaining how he ended up a dreaded "homosexual" in the first place.

It's easy to forget that there are places like this still in America.

That is a truly unfortunate headline.
