Chow It’s Hot Out!

onAnd I couldn’t be happier about that. In anticipation of today’s predicted 91-degree high, please go read food nerd extraordinaire Harold McGee’s NYT treatise on/celebration of cold food, where you’ll learn how to make ice cream using nothing but sweetened cream and milk, ice cubes, salt, and a freezer bag.

Harold McGee is a God among men.
Ice cubes in multiple trays - check.
Margarita mix in bottle - check.
Blender ready and cleaned - check.
Salt - check.
Wee Haa!
I think you forgot a key ingredient there, Will.
No, Will buys the premixed Margaritas with the "tequila" already in it from the liquor store. If they sold it at Costco he'd have a ten gallon drum of the stuff.
A preposterous forecast like 91 degrees is why I only read the National Weather Service's forecast. Y'know, from the actual scientists who know what they're doing. (And it's always right.)
I think they do sell that stuff at Costco, at least at the one that sells liquor is suburban Denver. Perhaps a trip to Portland is in order for someone...
(sarcasm on)
@6 Oh sure rub in your "I can buy liquor anywhere" Denver superiority. And now you can even buy your frickin liquor on Sundays in Denver. Well, WE get to frequent our unfriendly neighborhood state liquor stores and get breathed on by pervs and leered at by the store clerks all while paying way too much for our shitty fake margarita mix.
(sarcasm off)
What PopTart said.
@4 - normally I don't, but they had a special where it was 1/3 the price of normal margarita (tequila) ingredients, so I figured what the hey. So, yeah, it's pre-mixed.
Sometimes I make virgin margaritas, though. It depends on what I'm doing that evening and the next day.
@ 7 & 8, don't feel too bad. In Colorado they can only sell 3.2% beer in the grocery stores - real beer, plus any wine and anything else alcoholic is available only in liquor stores (plus only one chain grocery in the entire state because a business can only hold one liquor license). So until the Sunday closure law was repealed last month, you were SOL unless extra-weak Budweiser was all you wanted.
3.2% beer is an oxymoron. Ridiculous.
high 80's is not hot.
Damned straight, it's not beer unless it's 6 percent or more.
But GK is right, wake me when it's 110 in the shade.
What Will likes to drink is High Fructose Corn Syrup mixed with malt alcohol and emulsifiers, apparently. Really takes the edge off, huh?
Well, you know what I like to drink when the weather gets hot?
C'mon, take a guess.
And no, I don't feel like letting it go.
