Obama is sounding more like a Aquarian version of Sherman Helmsley.

The most important point is to keep the conversation as far away as possible from any real issues of substance, because on every issue that actually matters the GOP are implicated as the primary architects of an ongoing unmitigated disaster.

Response: "Obama will need all the energy bars and healthy drinks he can get to help him start repairing the extensive damage to the economy, the environment, the military, the judiciary, the treasury, the diplomatic corps, etc. caused by George Bush and supported by John McCain."

Beyond the words problems, disasters, failure, all very applicable -- beyond -- are the words criminal, and going to prison.

They dare not tell the truth because the Attorney general's office has revived to some degree, the Dems in some cases are willing to kick them, and even the Bush appointed federal judges are ruling against them.

YES, many will flee to Europe and South America - Mc Cain is their hope and issues of no importance whatsoever.

Greed is not issues driven, not is the abuse of power inherent in the Neo con state.

(watch the House Dems fuck Rove) And all but the hard core in the Repugs hate Rove, great indirect add on to the campaign - high level Sir Rove snubs the Halls of Congress and the courts ... love it. Wave the flag, and screw the country.

I exchanged emails with Amy this morning. I criticized her for making Obama's waistline an issue and she responded that she almost never receives email from readers when she writes about economic issues or other "real news" stories.

Is this what our journalists base their success on? The amount of emails they receive? They're like teenagers with LiveJournal accounts who fret over a lack of comments.

Remember WSJ is owned by Murdock.

Amy has been a pretty outspoken critic of Fox News.

This isn't about bias for McCain or against Obama. It's not about Rupert Murdoch. It's about the failure of our journalists to guide us toward the issues we *should* pay attention to. Amy knows better.

1. YEs they are keeping discussion off substance, duh, they always do. No surprise there.

2. Um, we gotta win anyway.

3. Right now it's a dead heat essentially.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/08/polls_continue_to_show_an_unst.html

that sucks right? OR do we just sit around moaning and whining about how unfair the GOP attacks are ?

4. Meanwhile Obama now accepts offshore drilling as part of bigger package on the environment etc. There's your substance for today. You can say "smart move, savvy compromiser" and admit all the prior criticism about HRC being too centrist was essentially a head fake to the left, or you can "screw Obama I am a baby who demands pure leftism" but the bottom line is yes, he is a politician.
5. How to get his numbers up and win?

a. go to Alaska like I said and put the freakin' focus on political corruption of the GOP senators and deals with lobbyists. Just going to Alaska is a news maker and shows change with a 50 state strategy.

b. Be more agrressive on the economy it's not enough to have your policy plans you have to slam and demonize the GOP as ripping us all off. Likeon offshore drilling. Why not demand they drill where they already can, first? Why not turn it all into referendum on oil companies? Why accept a compromise plan including offshore drilling now, when it's still the election and by running more left on this you can mobilize hope energy and enviros and change now -- then cut your deal when in office, duh?

c. Fucking make fuckin HRC VP she raises his polling nos. between 3-8 % no other VP choice does so. We do not have the luxury of passing this up. And she can be total attacker against McCain.

d. IF you think it's in the bag or if you think we win by sitting around moaning how unfair the GOP attacks are let's see where we are right now: realclear:

RCP National Average 46.5 43.9 Obama +2.6

[barely ahead statistically]

Battleground States Obama McCain Spread

Colorado 47.0 45.3 Obama +1.7 [a tie statistically]

Virginia 47.3 46.3 Obama +1.0 [a tie statistically]

Missouri 45.3 47.3 McCain +2.0 [a tie etc.]

Michigan 46.3 42.0 Obama +4.3 [ a tiny lead, why not a ten point lead in this our most economically devastated state?]

Ohio 46.0 45.5 Obama +0.5 [holy shit we need OH this sucks]

Florida 45.5 46.0 McCain +0.5 [gee dissing them and not seating them what a great plan that was.]

5. I ahven't read about any great massive voter registration going on in MT AK NV CO NM or how the Obama fans are getting on busses every weekend to go to those states and get off their asses and do some work to actually get him elected. What I see is lots of supporters nit picking the unfairness of GOP attacks and guess what:

that does jall all to help Obama.

Now there could be this massive unprecedented grass roots organization going on and I don't know about it. But why don't we see ads on Slog asking us all to go spend a weekend in NV or MT right now to go help? Guess we're all too busy e mailing everyone who's already going to vote for Obama with righteious indignation at blah blah blah.

I hear Obama is planning to challenge Ahmadinejad to a cage fight.
All Obama needs to do to pick up more of the blue collar fence sitters is to play basketball with servicemen, and maybe get some brass to say how it's a shame he's running for president because he'd make a great Marine.
And maybe this as a campaign slogan: Obama the first real man to occupy the Oval Office since Reagan.

@7 - Chozik's criticism of Fox hails from 2003, a full five years prior to the WSJ being acquired by Murdoch's NewsCorp. Ms Chozik's time at the mandatory NewsCorp "re-education" camp soon bares fruit!

He's skinny cuz he smokes. I thought you people hated smokers.

for starters Obama supposedly quit smoking ... and durring a presidential campain is the WORST time to quit smoking. Fitness is the best way to quit smoking, because you can actually FEEL your lungs doing what they were designed to do. Long time smokers who quit more often than not seem to get this gastly pot belly with a quickness! As history tells us, fitness, wellness, etc. is paramount to running a national television campain. Hell yeah he should eat healthy and go to the fucking gym.

Secondly, Dubyah is actually quite the fitness rat, he in love with his fitness weight routine when he first came into office and spends all of his free time (virtually all of his time) mountain biking on the ranch. And weren't they flaunting Condeleza Rices fitness regiment a while back?

Pathetic pathetic pathetic McCain campain.

@19 'Bares fruit'? What does peeling apples and oranges have to do with any of this shit? Learn to spell, you moron.

Actually, that applies to many posters here (I'm looking at you PC). It is hard to take some of you seriously (or as seriously as you take yourselves) when your comprehension of the English language is so obviously lacking.

On the other hand, DBK's rants can be pretty damn funny.

Sincerely,

Homer J. Simpson

Also... 'loose' means 'not tight'.

'Lose' means 'fail to win'.

English can be a beautiful language when used properly.

Sorry, raindrop. Usually I like your posts, but this 'loose/lose' mistake is incredibly annoying, and I see it far too often on Slog.

Sincerely,

Homer J. Simpson

@9 - Yeah, that's exactly what I thought. When I went back home to Indiana to visit the folks last time, the tiny little town of Brookston I drove through had it at the gas station. Closer to home, I know they have it in Lynden as well. How hard can it possibly be to find?

If I had a job where I was on the road 9 days out of 10 I'd probably have a pretty regimented selection of my favorite beverages and (protein) bars as well.
