But how many of them are reading your blog instead of watching FOX? Maybe it will seep through the media...

Dan, your post reeks of misogyny. Keep slinging the sexism and you are doing Karl Rove's work for him. Focus on the issues, please.

Dan, your post reeks of misogyny.

Theorizing about the psyche of bitter divorced men with respect to politics is supposed to be inherently misogynistic?

That the whole story sounds so trailer-park like will hopefully remind a few people of just what a backwater Alaska is. In fact picking someone from Alaska could really backfire as an excuse for focusing on the extreme corruption that has been centered in Alaska for the past few years.

I agree with Elizabeth @4. Instead, why not focus on her resemblance (physically and psychologically) to THIS bitch??

Dan,
I beg to differ. Arguably, the main reason Bill Clinton won the 92' election is because of Ross Perot. Clinton won the most votes (a plurality) not the majority. Perot claimed 18% or nearly 20 million votes. Also, the economy was recessive. I doubt "reminded-of-1st husband' had much to do with it.

It will be hard to demonize Saral Palin - best to go after her record rather than her appearance. Women already are not enamored with her - men like her, the sexy librarian thing. I already have some vomit in my mouth thinking about the column Peggy Noonan will write about her.

I may be 34, but I still have no idea what you are talking about H.W. Bush-first husband-what the hell? I don't remember that at all. H.W. lost for a number of reasons, but that one doesn't ring a bell.

I don't know why you keep calling Sarah Palin a bitch; that seems stupid. Why not call her what she is? Completely wrong for the job, a right-wing foot-soldier, anti-choice, ignorant on national and international issues, and of course, someone who has no business being on this ticket due to her massive lack of experience and vision.

I get it, she's anti-family and screwing with someone's child support payments is something the Democrats could use to their advantage. However, all this junk about sexy Bill Clinton, blah blah, doesn't make any sense.

You keep shouting about this scandal as if the guy was somehow a good guy, crushed out of some vindictive attack.

He poached moose, tasered a young boy, and was in many ways, unbecoming of an officer. Besides, her office was so open and accomodating to the investigation, that the Democrat leading it had nothing but praise for Palin.

If we want to talk about "backwater" states, how about Illinois? Everyone knows the Chicago Political Machine is one of the most corrupt in America, and Barrack Obama proudly hails from it.

Wow, again, I assume Dan is being tongue in cheek with regard to the GHWB reminding women of their first husbands.

However, getting men to conflate Palin with their cunty ex-sister-in-law, even subconsciously, will be pretty hard. You can't exactly point it out without sounding like a total douche.

Finally, @ 6: Who TF is that bitch?

She reminds me of 90% of the supervisors/managers I've ever had. She seems nice when you are interviewing for the job and maybe the first day of work, but by lunchtime the next day you'll wonder why you ever wanted to work for her, and by closing you wished you were dead.

It is unseemly for Queer men to call any woman a bitch.

Bunch of silly bitches.

Hillary should be the pick, political blunder of the century. Some folks said Mc Cain would pick a woman if Obama did not, they were right.

And of all the R. woman I can think of - this is the best pick.

Wait to see how much media she gets on the trail - Biden will be waving his arms with no cameras in sight.

Oh well, it will be close, let's get to work to make sure Obama carries Washington.

By the way - I think this decision was polled and it is all Karl Rove.

This sounds more like an episode of "Queer Eye for the Straight Gal" starring Dan Savage.

Since Friday Barjaya supporters have wanted to scratch Palin's face and pull her hair out because...well, because she makes them look like dog doo-doo.

Let's hope Dan's smear campaign works, because if it doesn't Obama is going to have to announce his change of heart regarding hospital visitation rights for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters.

Obama will have to sound more like Palin if he can't find a way to beat her by offering better alternatives to the electorate than her baby hugging, moose eating, fag hating hockey pie.

I don't like Sarah's looks. (And neither do my sisters!) She looks like the prudish, self-rightous bitch she is.

A few other points I hope the Dems will note - she's perfectly willing to have polar bears go extinct rather than curtail oil drilling. Maybe not Dan, but many of us Dems respect other life forms, and their right to exist.

She thinks more oil is the only answer to our energy problem. Alternative energy? No way! More oil - and its pollution - is what we need.

She thinks the climate crisis has nothing to do with what people have been doing. It's just a 'natural flux' - nothing to worry about.

She wants our schools to teach CREATIONISM - and that every word in the bible is true.

And a huge strike against her according to the women I know - absolutely NO abortions for ANY reason. I'm fine with her living her own life by her own beliefs. But not with her dictating MY life (or the lives of my friends). In my estimation, that makes her worse than any man with the same belief.

And finally - John McCain is now touting her executive experience and how crucial that is to running the nation. (She can manage a small - TINY - state budget.) Doesn't McCain realize that requirement would eliminate HIM??

@10, I'll grant you that tasering an 11 year old boy is a bad idea, even if the kid is literally begging you to do it as I've seen reported in several articles. But the illegal moose hunting? If you want to go after the guy for that, then you're also going to have to go after Sarah Palin's father, because he was Wooten's huntin' buddy on that particular outing.

Posted by haunted leg | August 31, 2008 5:12 PM

It is beside the point what Wooten did. If he was such a bad guy, Palin could have asked for him to be fired out in the open. He'd already been formally punished through proper channels, but Palin still had it in for him, and couldn't resist abusing her power, even over such a petty thing.

She had a vendetta against him that started before she became governor. That's why she initially tried to deny involvement and tried to deny any pressure was put on Wooten's boss. She knew what she was doing was not ethical, and she knew she had no business exerting political pressure to go after a personal enemy. Too bad she got caught in that deception and had to fall back to a different story that is closer to, but not the same as, the truth.

All this says a lot about the quality of McCain's choices.

@18,

Aww, your delusions are so cute.

She looks like the prudish, self-rightous bitch she is.

I concur. It would be scary to see her angry. I hope Biden figures out a way to piss her off at the debates without bullying her. And people thought Hillary seemed like a scolding mother type.

@9: The GHWB first husband quote is real. I don't remember who said it, but I remember it. Molly Ivins maybe?

@18: First sentence: correct. Second sentence: WTF? How does McCain/Palin represent change? Or, how does Obama/Biden NOT represent change? Did you make a typo or something?

McCain has apparently decided that women don't care about the issues. Doesn't matter that Palin and Hillary are worlds apart when it comes to public policy. Former Hillary supporters will apparently just simply vote for a candidate--any candidate--simply because of her gender. (Of course there are some HRC supporters who will do just that. They make Nader voters look like rocket scientists.)

What amazes me is that anyone is planning to vote the Republican ticket at all given the disaster of the last eight years. The economy sucks, 4000+ soldiers dead and countless permanently injured because of a war that should never have been started, gas prices through the roof, home foreclosures, complete denial of an impending climate crisis, the Constitution in shreds, incompetent religious whack-jobs in high positions of power, Hey! Four More Years!!! Too bad Herbert Hoover didn't have this electorate in 1932 during the Depression--he might have had a serious shot at a second term.

Obama did do that at the convention - when he was addressing the true believers.

Now that Sarah P is on the scene making it difficult to be mean, Obama will begin to reconsider some of those big ideas...maybe a little off shore drilling is ok...maybe its ok if AT&T is off the hook...maybe god is in the mix in hospital visitation AND in marriage and the gays will just have to suck it.

Besides, are we really still fighting for hospital visitation rights? Really? Isn't that a bit 20th century? Maybe O will have to go further...the right wing sets the agenda in this country and the Democrats follow.

Being old enough to remember that election, it was PEROT's siphoning off of votes that got William Jefferson Clinton elected (by less than 50%) not any backlash about HW seeming like a first hubby... otherwise, after 8 yrs as VP, why would women have voted for him the first time in 1988?

er, uh, most likely the neocon re-pubes trying to find a way to oust her after she upset their little good ol' boy oil network. my take anyway, that seems to be how the status quo operates. peace out.

morning comment from talking head - Palin will give a much larger role to Hillary than previously planned, as she can talk back, Hillary is now more central to an Obama win than a few days ago

Interesting, the Clinton aura is potently all powerful

CNN poll, fresh, race a dead heat, little Obama bounce, men like Palin more than women

god, just when we thought the campaign was about to get normal in the last weeks

Go Obama, go, do not falter

@21: Dude, the story you linked to states that "The Palins" are the source of the accusations against Trooper Wooten. That doesn't constitute proof of anything. Let the investigations continue...
