“Goats Downtown?”

posted by on August 26 at 15:56 PM

Slog tipper Kristi writes:

There is a fairly large herd of actual GOATS hanging out in the I-5 greenway by Pine St. and Boren, below the new dog park (down about 1 block west from the Baltic Room). Seriously! I can see them from my office. There is a also a collie going nuts because I think they are inspiring his/her natural herding instinct. Do you know the back story on this??

I do not, but I love actual goats. If anyone has any info, please share.

Goats are great for clearing brush, because they'll eat anything. I hear the UW uses a service called Rent a Ruminator. The city might have gotten a clue and done the same thing.

Sorry, that's Rent-a-Ruminant.

They use those on hillsides in the Bay Area pretty often. I love goats, they're weird and awesome.

A Charlie's Produce truck almost ran me over in front of The Stranger offices this morning. If not for my cat-like reflexes I would have been killed.

The SDOT guys that saw it all were very impressed.

City Light has used goats to clear brush around the sub-stations for many years. The kids love it. Maybe the parks department (or whomever is in charge of that) is following their lead?

@ 12: Yes. They have goat tacos at Taco Gringos sometimes that are fucking excellent. Stay away from the tongue, though. They make it funny.

I think you're only allowed to keep 1 or 2 in the city per household.

Goats that is.

You can have lots of goat tacos, though.

Slog Censor,

@14 is off-comment! Quick, delete that comment, before all of our irony-challenged brains begin to hurt!

And no, I don't feel like letting it go.

The Goats album "Tricks of the Shade" was an excellent alt-rap album for sure. I think they are in town promoting a new album.

You love goats? Have you ever looked a goat in the eyes? Goats are pure evil in corporeal form. That's why the dogs were going crazy.

Sorry, yes, completely non-sequitur.

I was thinking in my head when I posted that comment, "speaking of hot-tips... I WAS ALMOST FUCKING HIT BY A TRUCK IN FRONT OF THE STRANGER OFFICES."

That's all.
