Maybe WERE scary would've been better? This is almost 80 years old...Germans are some of the most progessive people in the world now.

I'd offer to change the subject line from "German" to "Nazis" but the headline "Nazis are Scary" is ridiculous, and besides, if you don't want to risk being called "scary" for the rest of time, don't agree to/participate in the systematic slaughter millions of people.

Yet when you are learning German they always have you saying the most harmless things: Ich mag Schalgsahne. Die Kartofeln sind aufgeweicht. (I love whipped cream. The potatoes are soggy.) I suspect that someone simply edited the older versions of the book: Ich mag Schalgstocken. Die Gaskammer ist aufgefullt. (I love night-sticks. The gaschamber is full.)

That last guy must feel so proud of himself to carry on such an extended musical metaphor.

Is 3/4 German enough to say that I think the headline's pretty apt? Hell, most countries are scary. Germans are definitely up there for bizarre. =)
