Those cards sound gayer than the market they're intended for.
Dan,
It reminds me of what Hallmark did by creating "Dadless" Father's Day tribute cards to single mothers for their children to give them on Father's Day.
This isn't surprising. Hallmark wants to stay apace and make money.
Can we all agree now that there never was a "culture war"? That it was just a crazy name the crazies gave to their never-ending crazy hissy fit?
And even if we can't agree, Hallmark now has marriage cards for same-sex couples -- war over, crazies.
Freedom through the Market. Ron Paul loves you, Dan.
I think these fundie sites supposedly decrying decadence and filth which then depict full nudity and/or fetish objects and clothing are simply porno for hypocrites.
Just out of curiosity, when's the last time a fundie boycott actually had any impact or achieved anything?
Funny, I thought Hallmark was pretty fundy themselves. You know, big on the so-called "traditional family" and Thomas Kincaid images out the ass.
Eh; for every Kinkade there's one of those cartoons of the old lady cursing. I think they're a quintessential give-the-market-anything-it-wants-(within-reason) companies.
Does Hallmark still deny benefits for same sex couples??
@6 - Well, they claim credit for their Starbucks boycott causing 600 stores to shut down. That's about as close as they've gotten so far to making a difference: Boycotting a company that was already losing money.
no seriously...if you haven't yet, go to the boycott mcdonald's website.
The comments from the people alone will make you laugh like crazy--these people are idiots with minimal HTML skills and they CERTAINLY don't know how to use spell check.
I love it!
"I am sorry to hear about your support of the homosexual agenda. I cannot support your business, just as I would not support any business who is pouring patrons' money into any socially harmful activity. Would you support an organization that promoted alcoholism, drug abuse, pedophilia? It is really no different, especially in the harmful effects it has on our society."
"My "family" has given McDonald's dollars of business over the last 20 plus years, because of it's family oriented business code, but NO LONGER. We you stoop so low as to give away your customer's hard earned money to give to such a far out and anti-biblical cause I and many others will NO LONGER support you. I will continue to support Chick Fil A and any other of your competitators. Keep up this stance and YOU, MCDONALDS will be OUT of BUSINESS! NO MILLIONS SERVED! Thank you/"
@6 - The AFA and Focus on the Family led a boycott of Procter and Gamble for advertising in gay media and tv programs, and for supporting repeal of a Cincinnati law that barred the city from adopting anti-discrimination laws to protect gays. P&G relented. That said, such boycotts (on either side) rarely work, and over the years the steady march in big corporate America is towards open support of gay rights / issues.
How about a boycott of stupidity. That should take care of Focus on my butthole.
-Begin angsty 17 year old angsty rant full of angst-
Why are fundies so Stupid, so ridiculous? I've been sure I was gay since I was 10, and WANTED my friends. They claim they're defending the children from immoral people and "lifestyles'", when in fact they're hurting us-- "mind-fucking us" so to speak. They rant on and on about the "homosexual agenda" What the HELL are they talking about? We just want to be treated as equals, not be hurt or harrassed, and be protected the same as everyone else by the government, maybe celebrate that its legal to be gay with a pride parade, and suddenly we're, "evil immoral people supporting the homosexual agenda and corrupting children"? WTF?!? I dare say the fundies are the evil immoral people, supporting the "kill all fags and make war with everyone who doesn't believe the same Dumb-fuck biblical brainwashing bullshit we do"
-End angsty 17 year old angsty rant full of angst-
Sorry for the long rant, everyone, but some of the retarded brainwashing fundie BS on the boycott mcdonalds site struck a nerve.
Now I don't feel bad about the Mickey D's I had for lunch.
