Why all the hate? I can't find anything on the Wiki that says why so many Sloggers hate Jean Enerson. I grew up with her on King 5 and she hasn't done anything to me.

Actually, Jean is a nice person. Beats me why you have such a hate on, I've never known her to ever do anything that was even slightly objectionable, and she was always kind to people when she didn't have to be, even when she wasn't doing so hot herself.

You really need to go out and get drunk, IMHO.

Aside from the fact she supports the wrong team in the English Premier League, she's OK by me.

I had tried to overdose on poison and my liver was failing 2 years ago. I was literally dieing in my emergency room bed when my mom saw Jean walking through to do something else. Remembering that I really love the local news, my mom --desperate for anything that would help me-- approached her and begged her to talk to me.

Jean sat there with me for like 20 minutes asking me questions and carrying on in a really beautiful way. I only remember glimpses of it because, like I said, I WAS FUCKING DIEING, but it didn't matter...she wasn't scared, and she was not in a hurry.

It helped me, and it makes me happy every time I see her there on television.

You are a really terrible person Adrian, who only attacks and hurts others from a position (at the Stranger) that you do not deserve.

You should be ashamed of yourself and answer others' questions of why you hate her so much.

Why do you hate her so much, Adrian?

Jean Enerson is a clepto. I used to work at a certain department store in UVillage and we were told that if she came in, keep tabs on what she stole, and then her assistant comes in later to pay for it. True story.

You heard that story from somebody else, who heard it from somebody who works at Nordstrom, because she has an account there, and someone takes tabs to charge her account.

But nice try.

"KING or KOMO or whatever (I refuse to pay attention: one simply cannot trust any American broadcast news—BBC News now, BBC News FOREVER!)"

I'm never that impressed when someone brags about their ignorance. You can't tell the difference between two local stations? You have so little interest in local affairs that you refuse to even learn the call letters? Good for you, I guess, but I don't think it makes you look as cool and above-it-all as you think it does.

Adrian, you're a naughty, naughty boy. Jean Enerson has had a great career. Among other things, she was the first journalist to cover AIDS in a sensitive manner, back when KING had a serious news department, and AIDS was a "gay disease"

And you gotta admit: That's great hair.

I am so old I remember when Jean was a redhead. It was in the early 80's and we just sort of accepted it. Then she was blondish again. Confusing a city that needed no help in that department.

i never believe anything adrian says or take him seriously. how can anybody? i've heard the rumors about jean's light-fingered also, but in all my briefs encounters with her she's always been courteous. but she is way way way too skinny.

Jean was charming the couple of times I met her. Her husband was wearing pink khakis, which is soooooooooo European.

Isn't he a baron or something?

I mean Baron, of course.

Adrian,

If, 33 or so years from now, YOU'RE still writing articles of interest and import for "The Stranger" - or heck, ANY minimally reputable news publication - MAYBE you'll have earned something approaching the respect and admiration Ms. Enerson rightfully deserves for her four decades in journalism.

Until then, fuck off, arseclown.

alter ego = all he is not

not only was she early on covering AIDS - she became the early celeb draw to do the AIDS Walk - the FIRST and EVERY year since .. over 20 years ago

class act, and I like the health focus she does, good and important quick view pieces

course Adrian would prefer some gossip about Blah Blah and Blah ... you know, what passes for real news these days

also, BBC is what "keeps us free" ... absent the lame US media

I have always enjoyed the 'Jean Enersen is a klepto' urban legend. It's been around since the mid-1980s and nobody really believes it any more, but it's still as much a part of old Seattle as the hydros or J.P. Patches.

mediocrity + nice = what passes for greatness in Seattle = "Actually, Jean is a nice person. . . .I've never known her to ever do anything that was even slightly objectionable"

Mmm, she's just famous because she's on TV. Her intellectual and policy contributions, her investigative reporting and all those huge books she wrote all those foundations she started -- not.

A fungible talking head who stayed here and didn't pursue, or didn't get promoted to, LA Chi town or NY.

Look at Michelle Malkin. I hate her guts. You hate her guts. But she was here writing little waspish op eds and now she's all over a cable news network and she's gone national.

Look at RachelMadow. In tens years from a waitress to a cable host.

RIP Jean Enerson -- she was nice. ?!?

you seem to need your ass scraped with a tin can lid

by the way, Jean is a Skinner girl - old Seattle downtown real estate money - made her own career based on her own efforts

love her calm cool manner, very North West

in person she is little, petite

and she answers her own phone

Adrian, find an editor with the guts to make you use some skills and find some content, the years are passing

She probably had to put up with a lot of shit in the '60s and '70s being a woman in a newsroom and for that, I thank her. She made things a lot easier for the rest of us females who went into the news business later on. Maybe someday you gays will have someone to look up to and thank for paving the way also.
