Comments on Denver Is Difficult!
The RTD airport buses are expensive, but they are pretty plush inside, with cushy seats and a compartment for your luggage. If you've ever struggled to hoist a huge piece of luggage onto a crowded Metro bus, you will appreciate the RTD service a lot more.
Denver seems like a terrible place to hold the Dem Convention.
It's new.
It's clean.
Housing is cheap there.
It's high tech.
The weather is sunny, clear, warm, sometimes hot, but nice.
It's near mountains, skiing, beautiful wide state parks.
In other words -- there's nothing to worry or complain about! I mean, who'd want to "change" Colorado!?!

Shit. All you need towatch out for are beer trucks.
And the internet says "The average forward speed of a tornado is 30 mph but it may vary from stationary to 70 mph." Which means it could easily cover the 29 miles from Castle Rock to Denver, killing thousands on the way. Probably hundreds of thousands will die.
Not that it will do anyone any good to watch out for tornadoes. If you are in a tornado's path, you are doomed. There is no defense, no warning, and no mercy. As if you're going to live forever if a tornado doesn't kill you.
I saw a tornado over the skyscrapers in Denver when I was a kid. It was awesome.

I rode the bus in Denver all the time when I was growing up and it was always fine. Even this summer when we were there we rode the bus to get around and it was clean, air conditioned, and there was a general lack of crazy bus people. Perhaps I was always blessed to ride good routes in Denver. The airport is really far from downtown, I miss Stapleton every time I fly into Denver.
Denver can definitely have tornadoes within the city limits. I remember one in particular that touched down about 17 blocks from our house, close enough we could see the funnel cloud from our back porch. And I lived smack dab in the middle of Denver. Good times...
I moved from Seattle to southeastern Wyoming a couple of years ago, and I thought it would be great to be so close to Denver. Not so--Denver sucks. It's bland and boring, like a giant suburb. Believe it or not, Wyoming kicks Colorado's ass as far as interesting people and fun stuff to do is concerned. The only reason I ever go down there is to see a show or occasionally shop.
I can't believe the convention is in such a boring city. Even Salt Lake City would have been a better choice.
The tech center shuttle will take you to the RTD -- just finesse your lack of delegate status.
The Denver bus system is weird. You can't use your transfer to go back the way you came, you have to buy a new one. I do like the fact that you don't have to take one if you aren't going to transfer.
Also, they check the fares all the time on the light rail, even though it takes 30 mins to go through downtown. You can walk downtown faster than that.
Skylark Lounge, Annie Wagner, it's a good place for a drink and some rockabilly.
in my limited experience, by car everything in denver is a half hour away from everything else in denver.

I ride the bus or light rail all week, it works well for me, but I haven't tried it from the airport....ah, DIA - the bane of our existence here. Nobody knows why they built it in fricking Kansas, or why it's roof is so reminicent of double D's.

You obviously don't know your ass from a hole in the ground, hahaha Wyoming better than Denver, check your meds!! Salt Lake City is boring Mormon town, Denver kicks ass!
As for the author - Decipher the Light Rail? There are 4, that's right FOUR, routes. also 9 bucks for 25 mile trip from the airport seems like a good deal, but obviously you are a cheapskate. The airport is far away so the city can grow that way, also it is bigger than Manhattan.
