It's just you, you sexist pig! She sounds like a normal woman.

Yay Darcy!

Sounds normal, and a good octave below Alex Alben's vocal pitch.

And maybe grow hair on her chest, too.

Can she beat incumbent Sheriff Frank Drebin?

I sure hope so.
This ad is so touchy-feely generic, it really says nothing.

And I'm a campaign donor for Darcy.

Like fingernails on a chalkboard, only worse.

It thought her voice sounded fine, But i suppose Dan would prefer her to sound like Kathleen Turner or Dr. Girlfriend.

Sounds normal to me.

Maybe you hang out with smokers too much?

Her voice is fine.... Go back to writing about jack shacks, would ya Savage?

Dr. Girlfriend! Yes!

Sure, she could use her vocal coach. She's not breathing from her diaphragm. When she starts speaking in public she'll sound underpowered.

However, I'm far more concerned about her appearance. Even I can see that she needs a major makeover. Darcy: Lose the glasses, change the hair, get the power suits (and no, not pant suits).

She sounds intelligent and substantial. Somebody help her so that she has a fighting chance.

Her voice is normal, and so is everything else that some of you all are suggesting needs alteration. And you know that even if she made all those changes, people would a) still find more minute things she needs to change [that's how this game works as anyone who's ever been a teenaged girl who craves 'popularity' knows], and, at the same time, b) suggest that she's an evil, frivolous person for being so concerned about how people perceive her.

Give her a fucking break--she sounds great.

hmmmm, voice doesn't sound off on web, but when I heard this on TV the other night, my first thought, was "My God, she sounds like the ditzy job applicant in Reichert's ad".

I've only met her twice, but she seems to have a speech impediment of some sort.

She sounds fine to me, maybe a touch adenoidal, but not especially high-pitched. However those of you accusing Savage of sexism are applying a double standard. No one called it sexist when people criticized GHW Bush's voice. (I'm not suggesting a political bias, he's just the first example that came to mind.)

not totally related, but..

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/tv/372902_jeanenersen31.html

"When 24-year-old Jean Enersen went to work for KING-TV in 1968, a cameraman was so insulted to be paired with a woman, he refused to get out of the car to shoot the story they were supposed to be working on.

"I asked if he thought he'd get a better shot out of the car," she said. "Then there was the time I was told if I drank a shot of whiskey before going on air I might be able to lower my voice. Others suggested I take up smoking.""

The stress of the house fire really took its toll on the Burner family. Undeterered by pressure from her family to sit this race out, she's pressing on.

she looks & sounds fine.

with her war chest, she should be able to take sheriff 20-years-to-catch-a-retard down.

You mean Congressman I-almost-bankrupted-King-County-for-a-death-penalty-case-I-later-bargained-to-life Reichert?

Fiscal discipline my ass.

she will loose again ... this purse is still a sow ear

and he is all sly and silky ... League of Conservation Voters gives him 85, not bad for an R ...

house fires are horrible, but, I bet they had great insurance ... rebuild and move on

she is still house mouse, Microsoft geeky, political stripes, none

Dan, for that comment, I think Darcy gets an opportunity to raise your voice UP an octave.

Dan, I'm not sure it's an octave thing. But her voice certainly stood out the first time I saw the ad. I thought I heard a bit of Midwestern accent, but I'm now thinking it's merely a bit nasally.

Either way, I say go get 'em, Darcy!

Posted by oneway | August 4, 2008 6:48 PM

"go get em" ... with what?

sympathy for a house fire in the million dollar digs? fully insured.

think not. she is the wrong candidate in that district. and I am a firm Dem, just not star struck by Darcy ... God so trite, the kid and hubby in all ads, shit girl ...IT IS about you, hubby is not Brad Pitt, kid is very suburban typical, what is the big deal?

Get some fire, get some Obama in your stuff. Get a good speech writer.
