Well, SECB's stock just went up in my book. Getting kicked out of unimportant events takes some doin'.

I have to admit, until someone explained it to me, that I thought WASL was that dolphin thing with the spiral tusk.

“This result is a crushing defeat for Randy Dorn and his out-of-state war chest,” says Mr. Hays.

....the fuck?

Going off of the PDC website, I've got Randy Dorn taking in $3,280 in out-of-state money. Bergeson, I've got down for $7,575.

That's one dumb-ass criticism there, Alex Hays.

What a silly dumb ass, that Alex Hayes.

Down with WASL!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

I need to meet Mr. Hays. I have an attitude to deliver too.

It's nice to see that Mr. Hays shares Ms. Bergeson's math and reasoning aptitude.

Wow, how very incompetent.

Superintendent Of Public Instruction
John Patterson Blair 8.26 %
Don Hansler 9.45 %
Randy Dorn 30.05 %
David Blomstrom 4.01 %
Enid Duncan 6.58 %
Teresa (Terry) Bergeson 41.65%

Doesn't look like he's losing by 20 points anymore :). And when you add up the "oh god, anyone else votes" it's looking pretty bad for her. Blomstrom got 4 percent of the votes, and, well, google him.

SECB is conveniently the same as Silly Erica C Barnett..... hmmmm

The substance of this slog post comes as no surprise to me whatsoever. The admittedly crappy newspapers in this town know (and the TV stations) that they can say what they want about candidates as long as it is framed as an op-ed piece. When their "reporting" stays separate there is still some pretend line between fact and opinion. The Stranger refuses to follow even this most childish of divisions and then acts surprised when the candidates they taunt for weeks on end don't want to see them?

In the same vein, the Times and PI make endorsements but their websites are not headlined with "who you should vote for" for the 3 days before the election.

Next, posting slog entries on your own site under the 'Stranger Election Control Board' instead of admitting the potential bias of who is writing it?????

A) If I cared about your opinion I would have already voted against Bergeson.

B) Taking no responsibility for who is posting gives you ZERO credibility.

C) For the record, as I was stumped on a particular race while filling out my ballot I read the voter's pamphlet and was still at a loss. I then checked the ECB guide and voted for the OTHER person.

These posts only make your "newspaper" look petty and spiteful.

A campaign that acts rude to the media deserves not getting endorsed by EITHER King County Democrats OR The Stranger.

WASL serious?

Let's put a simile on that test!

So, the TB campaign is also a douche factory?

Thanks for clearing that up @ 10. What amazes me most is how I stumbled onto your blog to read this in the first place!

Well done, @10!

When are you guys going to understand that you aren't a real news source? What candidate is going to take the "Stranger Election Control Board" seriously? Let the real media do the election coverage.

@10, 15: Seattle's Daily Newspaper Reporters: Fighting bitterly on blogs in support of our failed business model!

Yeah right, @16, all of the folks critical of the Stranger have to be miserable old reporters from the dailies.

As someone who got to know Ms. Bergeson a little too up close and personal, I believe the SECB has captured the zeitgeist of her personality and her campaign perfectly.

the Stranger is a mean-spirited publication known to interview with an ax-to-grind and for setting up candidates to be humiliated. What a surprise that Bergeson didn't welcome you to her campaign event.

A cumulative reading suggests that:

1. SECB finds political engagement by people much older than they are inherently humorous.

1. SECB finds political engagement by people much older than they are inherently humorous.

2. SECB finds political engagement by people much younger than they are inherently humorous.

3. SECB finds political engagement by differently-abled people inherently humorous.

Were SECB a middle-school lunchroom clique, we'd make broader allowances.

Randy Dorn's out-of-state war chest? I wonder what Hays has to say about the WEA - the union Bergeson once led - endorsing Dorn over her. Seems to me they'd know better than anyone who's qualified to be the state superintendent.

many parents think WEA is the reason you can't fire shitty teachers

and they are right

the kiss of death, WEA in elections??

Fabulous writing! Loved it! Too funny for words!

Has Bergeson ever explained why it is the testing company that keeps jacking-up the price it charges our state to grade the danged WASL continues to "win" the contract to score it? Could it possibly be the thousands of dollars its executives have spent through the years supporting Bergeson's campaigns???
