Sigh. You can take the douchebag protesters out of Seattle, but....

What the hell does "necessary in principle" mean, anyway?

I'm curious about the band's reasons/rationale for performing as part of the protest. Will we be getting any insight into that?

I've kinda lost track -- is Cynthia McKinney the candidate that true lefties are supposed to throw their vote away on this time? I've heard her name come up at parties recently, so her cachet must be building.

um...you asked "John who?" in regards to John Sinclair? Oh boy. Where IS Josh Feit when we need him?

This post reminds me: guest leftists would be nice to have on slog from time to time, since Stranger staff are mainly liberal environmentalists.

Look up Cynthia McKinney on YouTube and you'll see how bat-shit crazy she is.

Great post, but Jesus, if there was ever a stupid protest this is it. Do Blue Scholars still think the monorail is under construction in the Rainier Valley?

Ward Churchill? don't give that man any platforms to stand on. glad to know he doesn't let public humilitation, plagarism, or fraud get him down.

FYI - The name of where Obama will speak on Thursday is "Invesco Field at Mile High." The Mile High is still there and most people (who aren't otherwise being paid) still gladly call it Mile High.

Buy "Kick Out The Jams" (the album) by the MC5 and listen to the first couple minutes. That's John Sinclair!

Hey, just to say, wasn't comparing the excellence of the Blue Scholars to the lameness of this 'Recreate 68' business (umm, protest at the convention of the party that is pursuing the war, maybe?) but just saying there is a way that the left gets so lefty it fights itself, which is definitely reflected in the Scholars song complaining about closing businesses for 'monorail construction' which never happened. There's a special kind of absolute virtue which ends up defeating its own ends. (And yeah, I voted for Nader in 2000 - Gore's running mate was JOE LIEBERMAN, who might be McCain's running mate this time.) Read Obama's books: he gets it. He GETS it, and he might be president. This is nearly supernatural. Guys, play the convention party, not the protest, the tent really is that big this time around.

The Republican's are Communists. They are trying to bring down the capitalists system by unmoring its foundations. That way the revolution can take place, and we can all live in a workers paradise.
