I want to congratulate Joe Biden on becoming the vice presidential running nominee. Joe is a friend and colleague, a strong experienced leader and a devoted public servant. I look forward to not only seeing him in Denver next week but on the trail as I work to help Barack Obama and Joe Biden along with many other Democratic candidates campaign this fall.

I am looking forward to doing everything I can to champion Barack Obama. I can't thank everyone enough for your generous support over the past few weeks. To hear everyone go on about Biden it's clear that Obama doesn't have the chops to be prez... Biden got walked all over in the primaries but now everyone seems to be wanting to elect HIM as prez. The buck is suppose to stop with Obama -- but it looks like he'll need to run everything by his elder statesman first.

I have been a huge Biden fan for at least 20 years so I am happy he is the guy. I will be biting my nails the whole time Bill and Hillary give their speeches at the convention. If for one second they look like they are not behind this team 100% they can kiss any legacy and any chance that Hillary will ever be President goodbye.

Nobody at teh Slog had nary a Biden-tastic Blue's Clue by yesterday eventide? CNN announced it was Biden around 8-ish PM PST last night & put it right onto their 'breaking news' crawl, perhaps forevermore. FoxNews soon followed. Both networks at that time claimed 'sources within the DNC' had confirmed Obama's VP was Biden. MSNBC, the self-proclaimed "place for politics" was of course still airing that Olympics stuff...

No one at the Stranger thought it would be Biden...What the hell does that say about you guys?

Say what you will, I am impressed that Christopher, Megan, Eli, Annie and Dan posted anything after 5pm Friday. I think they usually start hitting the Happy Hours around 4pm on Friday. The fact that there are any posts rather than the usual Morning news and Stranger Suggests on a Saturday are a welcome change (I was about to beg Dan for a non-paying job Slogging on the Weekends, but now it seems unnecessary).

Oh joy. The Democrats are serving up their most fervent Senatorial drug warrior for VP -- the guy who came up with the idea of "Drug Czar", sponsored the anti-ecstasy hysteria, and is now running around about steroids. The Libertarian Party is promoting a maybe-reformed uber drug warrior. And the Republicans are, well, as all of them (except Ron Paul) are on any thought that adults should be left alone.

Definitely a good election to sit out.

Then sit out Fritz, see what a McCain election does for you. Better yet - vote for Nader, that's worked so well for all the uber-liberals the last 8 years, hasn't it? Fucking brilliant, short-sighted liberals are what are wrong with this country - and I'm a fucking liberal.

And with those who have doubts about Biden, keep watching. He's the ideal pick for the campaign that is playing out right now.

Speaking as someone whose family is from Ukraine and who grew up not far from Scranton, I don't dispute this.

We're going to see the clip of Biden explaining how Obama isn't experienced enough about a million times between now and the election. How will he explain that away, he wasn't experienced enough a few months ago but he's OK now?

I'm a Pittsburgh transplant living outside Philly and working in Wilmington. Believe me they (and I) love Biden over here. He is a solid dude. Oh and Michelle Obama is drop dead gorgeous too, imo. My favorite part of the day was when they were hugging each other. That's the America I want to live in, beautiful.

Oh, and great post, Mr. Christopher Frizzelle. I'm not easily amused, but man, I think you just did for Scranton what Monty Python did for Spam.

I was born, grew up and went to college in Philadelphia, and am well-familiar with Scranton and Wilmington. They are both ass-pits, and somebody as sharp on his feet as Biden will get massive support in the lunch-bucket Mid-Atlantic and Rust Belt.

Why anybody with two brain cells to rub together would vote for McCain escapes me.
