Bayh, Biden, or Kaine

posted by on August 18 at 18:15 PM

The Slog has only just begun its VP runoff voting, but it sounds like Obama is closing in a his pick—with or without our help. Via the New York Times:

Mr. Obama had not notified his choice — or any of those not selected — of his decision as of late Monday, advisers said. Going into the final days, Mr. Obama was said to be focused mainly on three candidates: Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, Gov. Tim Kaine of Virginia and Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware.

Aides said the announcement would come at the earliest on Wednesday morning.

Out of those three, Biden is the only one the Slog mob seems to feel good about. (As of 6:15 p.m., that is.)

It will be Biden, Obama needs an attack dog or a "Dick Cheney" and let's face it, that would be Biden. The other two are relatively unknown and don't provide the foriegn policy expertise he needs.

I have been a Biden since the 70s so I will be happy, but I don't think he brings Obama many voters and Joe has a tendency to stick his foot in his mouth. Even when what he says might be right.

has to be Bayh.. .has to!
he'll bring the Hillary people, who say they won't vote, he'll bring the typically red state of IN, he is fully knowledgeable about the war and is on the committees with McCain and Lugar - he's the right choice. He'll bring the moderates who can't decide. If not I have always liked ol' Joe bidne.. . but he ain't bringin what Evan can.

Bayh! Biden will say or do anything to lose an election. Plus Bayh's been a governor, so he's got that goin' for him.

I'll throw some love Tim Kaine's way. I would have rather had Mark Warner running for Pres. but having Kaine as VP would be good too. He is a decent guy. He couldn't make the Virginia Assembly do anything (mostly because there are too many Republican Yahoos, a large majority, who can't agree with themselves.)

I wanted Biden to win the nomination in '88. I'm somewhat shocked that 20 years later he might become the VP. Am I gonna have to listen to republican whine about plagiarism now?

IN will tip the scales, and it is close. Bayh is the best choice. He will deliver IN and maybe even OH.

Leave it to Sloggers to be in favor of someone who broke from his party to support the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005. No deadbeats in Capitol Hill, for sure.
