Peter? Are you friends with Daniel Bennett Kienecker? Friends inside his head, perhaps?

I can't wait to get home and watch this. You don't have to be a mo to love some Eydie (or so I always claim).

Eydie is a monster talent. I'm with Balt-O-Matt on this one. Steve Lawrence was terrible, he rode her coattails his whole career. He dragged her down. She could have been Keely Smith or Peggy Lee without his mush-headed no-talent act. Connie Francis, really? Connie couldn't sing her way out of a paper bag, she was sub-Theresa Brewer, maybe even sub-Patti Page, and I don't think you can get any lower than that. Connie Francis made music for the simple-minded. Eydie was a jazz artist.

Despise Julie London? Mais non. She's not my favorite, but she's definitely got an aura. No jazz, but a husky, cool style for a white pop singer, sort of a Chris Connor or maybe June Christy minus the jazz. I do usually prefer the brassy ones, though. Julie had a terrific rack, too, but not as terrific as Abbe Lane. Vavoom!

she was in golden rainbow with hubby steve. read about it in 'the season' by william goldman. or maybe it was james goldman. great book about the 67-68 broadway season. and yes, fnarf, connie wasn't all complicated, but she's kitschy fun. shall we talk girl singers next time we meet, my friend?
