RSS icon Comments on What Did Jesse Jackson Say About Obama?

1

I'll tell you what it involves: a big boost for Obama, that's what. Jesse is a hindrance, not a help.

Obama will dimiss Jackson, and there will go another constituency he used to get the nomination betrayed. First it was the anti-war left, and now the African American vote. He knows he has those constituencies in the bag anyway, what does he care.

I wouldn't say this is up to the same standards as "Hymie town." Jesse's stupidity is losing its shimmer...

It's a damn shame that Jesse Jackson has become such an irrelevant joke. Remember when he was someone who commanded respect?

oh Rev Jackson.. what a fucking fool you are. He's basically pissed that Obama's disthroned the leaders of the Old Guard such as Shartpon and himself. Disthronement means a possible decline in funds going to their organizations. They're also very pissed and jealous b/c Obama didn't come from underneath their wing.

Does anyone remember: the">http://www.redlasso.com/ClipPlayer.aspx?id=505eaef0-2425-49aa-a5e1-f7d694a1d70d">the SNL cartoon where Obama does everything he can to get Sharpton and Jackson away from his campaign?

From a commentor at HuffPost

"Fox and conservatives are looking for any opportunity to create tensions within the black community. Fox, Limbaugh and Hannity will play this story for days...and days.....and days."

Ugh

No, the time you are referring to must precede me. I'm only 60.

Jesse Jackson Sr. just handed Obama a gift. I was wondering if he would get a "Sister Souljah" moment and here it is. If I were more cynical I'd wonder if this "distraction" wasn't orchestrated? Nevertheless, thank you Jesse!!

@13 - Little do they know it does the opposite. It actually makes Jackson look like a jealous fool. How can preacher, who cheated on his wife and fathered a child with his mistress, complain about the morals of someone else who's faithful to his wife and loving and responsible father?

The black community (btw, I'm black) remembers everything about Jackson. To the general population, we appear to respect and love the man. But within the community, we openly criticize him when his name comes up in conversations. Basically, many people in the black community have been waiting for someone new and younger to gain momentum and dethrone the old guard because they've become jaded with the power and money.

As a female of AA anscestry (I prefer the term ‘negress’) I can say that this won’t change a thing.

Quite frankly, Fox news, Hannity, Limbaugh, all of them are FAR to detached from the black community to realize that we see Jackson as a guy who could have been a great leader in our community if he hadn’t gone batshitcrazy. He was next to MLK when he went shot, made a good run for presidency and slept with a whole bunch of women. That’s about it. We’re not impressed.
Dont worry. Brotha's still got our vote. Holler.

"Negress" reminds me of "empress". Not that I'd ever use the word, but it's an interesting one.

I see; so when Bill Clinton dismisses Jesse Jackson and whomever his constituency is, he's just a rabid racist but if Obama does it then it's all noble and those voters don't matter anyway. Typical lefties.

@ 18
It's from Star Trek. Abe Lincoln, traveling through time and space, finding himself on the deck of the Enterpise, face to face with Uhura, calls Uhura a negress. And she doesn't flinch.

Is it strange that I'm black, female, watch Star Trek and read the Slog? I'm I a freakish anomaly.

At least I'm not Jesse Jackson.

Jesse under his breath...with impeccable grammar:

"See, Barack been, um, talkin down to black people on this faith based. I wanna cut his nuts off."

"Barack he's talkin down to black people."

See Jesse been, um, talkin down to his mic a little too much, instead of, um shutting the fuck up. Or at least saying something that makes sense. I wanna cut his mic off.

Here's an admission I can't believe I'm posting here. I would most enthustiastically vote for an Obama (Hillary) Clinton ticket anyday. Although I can't stand Bill. I love Hillary. My partner of 23 years and I have given hundreds of dollars (so far) to Obama. I just can't stand Bill. But Barack and Hillary look good together. Damn it!!

This is my first post to a blog ever. I find it ridiculous that our television can say almost anything on air, and they still can not quote "Cut his nuts off"? Come on, is this still a Puritan community, or just one with a lot of double standards? Even more ridiculous is refering to Black Americans as "African American" when most are born in America. Are we not all just Americans, trying to get along? Let's drop the labels and deal with each other as human beings.

Give me a fucking break. For fuck's sake, black people, come into the mainstream with the rest of us and put all this b.s. behind us. Do you really want to be treated like little babies and have all these handouts given to you? Wouldn't you like to have the self respect of just making your own way regardless of what anyone else says? Put this shit to bed and just start kicking ass and we will respect you. Jackson and Sharpton have pigeonholed you as a group who needs special help. How on Earth do you ever expect to gain respect on those terms? So, continue being the mentally retarded kid in class and have everyone treat you "special", or just break free of that shit and kick ass and mow down anyone who tries to keep you from your dreams. Enough of this being treated like you can't be successful on your own. Start cutting your own slice of the American dream and we will support you. Continue to act like you need handouts and we'll treat you like the dumb kid in the family. I say this with all respect.

Oh and @I'm black really -
Your loss chick. If I said "I don't date black chicks" with no other qualification I'd be a racist. You know - just like you are. EVERYONE JUST FUCKING GET OVER IT. SCREW WHOEVER YOU WANT, BE FRIENDS WITH WHOEVER YOU WANT. With your attitude girl, you sound too dumb for me to date anyway. Also, we may have smaller dicks but we'll go down on you whereas the brothers won't.

Jesse Jackson does not like Obama because Obama is too white. Jesse Jackson is the biggest white racist (besides Sharpton) that exists in America. Furthermore Jackson does not like Obama talking about morals, I mean look at Jackson, he had an affair that resulted in a child. Then he had to be hauled into court to pay for the child.

I think that for a minister to have uttered those comments is terrible. This shows envy as well as jealuosy. No love regardless. These comments that were not meant to be heard as it was will affect our young people especially our young men who should be able to have good role models out in the world. Rev. Jessie has hurt himself some more in this world as far as respect and to some ministeries. Some that are weak will have a negative outlook as to good morals and men of the cloth. The remarks will go down in history. I believe that those that have wisdom and those of understanding will be reminded that any man can be his own worse enemy as we will continue to see though out life. Age doen't help some. Satan will put you out there on front street when you don't want to be. Those remarks was down in his spirit about Obama.

wow you guys are great. First of all Obama is not going to solve all black people's problems. He is trying to solve all of America's problems. It's just that most white people cannot see that. O and um there are still some black guys who will go down on a girl. (Its because they cannot give good dick. Like white guys). Star Trek's ok, too. Anyway Jackson's comments were meant to be heard by Obama, Jackson is no idiot. Its just that there was no real respectful way to express his feelings face to face so he chose the way of the gutter. Not new. From the lack of a response one may gather the Obama is taking into account the fact that some people feel certain ways about a man (black or whatever) who can adhere to laws while focused on something with meaning. (something Jackson, Clinton, nor our great president could not do). Haters are all around us. The shit ain't about race anymore people. It's 2008 and we are at war against the sand people. I mean get real. Cuz was right tho about how if someone acts like they need a handout they will continue to be treated like they are special. This is clearly why Jackson is upset, because Obama is not acting like this, and as you can see he is kicking asses all over. Who wants to go to hooters for some chicken, beer and white girls. (that was a joke, lighten up)
