....And nobody cares. Sounds incredibly incestuous, and it reads more like a work party than a dance night. And did you really think the line "One of the DJs is sleeping with one of our editors" would generate more appeal?

I'd never heard it used outside of the context of Literally New York. I figured every city had its own version of it--for example, in Atlanta, people in the suburbs are OTP (Outside The Perimeter, where the Perimeter is I-285). I suppose the translation of the sentence is essentially, "...a cool, friendly crowd blessedly free of people from undesirable neighborhoods."
