As for number 10, I'm thinking Berbatov.

When knives are outlawed, only outlaws will eat steak.

BTW, @1: England is a team, doofus, and in English, collective nouns can take plural verb forms. Silly 'Merkin.

Ha! I was in England last month. A middle-aged woman up north told me she was glad she'd moved out of London because of "all the Italian knife gangs roaming the streets there." I do believe this is suburban paranoia.

here is a statistic for you: 37% of all statistics are made up. Use that to argue anything!

@7: Oh, I've got nothing to do with Berbatov. But keep an eye on Jubilation's Mancs...

My vote: I don't know, words can be used to argue anything.

Poop alert.

Dialectics.

1. Arguing vs. winning an argument.
2. "Good" statistics vs. "Bad" statistics.
3. Ignorant vs. non-ignorant.

Ignorance loses arguments to bad statistics. Non-ignorance loses arguments to good statistics.

If they think England is a scary place to live, they should try walking down the street on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Just the other day, I was walking down Pine Street, near 12th Avenue, minding my own business, when I was suddenly and urban-legendarily attacked by an angry gang of Slog commenters. How vicious and violent they were!

Why, they called me nasty names, beat up my pit bull, accused me of being a latent Scandinavian and, why, they even forced me to eat an entire box of Fruity Pebbles against my will! And then they ... (snif) ... they ... they told me my blog sucks!

The horror! The horror!

Presumably anytime anybody gets knifed, the "government has lost control" (unless, perhaps, the person doing the knifing is an MI5 agent).

One question I have is, why aren't there drug diversion courts to handle all the speed cameras?

I mean, speed is not good.
