She's fucking stupid. NBC has exclusive airing rights to her show, not ABC.

The Big Give is over (the show Oprah DID license to ABC) so this ho is stupid

I resolve to spend one year reading several Slog posts per day, and commenting on many of them. I will speak and perhaps write on the experience, from time to time. I'm not saying I won't write a book about it, especially if such a book looked like it would sell; a question you are perfectly capable of doing the math on. No need to share our answer, as anyone reading this is just as adept at the math as you are.

I do this out of my commitment to public service.

someone did this for martha stewart and showed their work at bumbershoot about five years ago. and it was quite compelling: martha does not advocate a comfortable life. everything was craftsy, yet anxious. nervous, somehow.

I really need to do the whole "come up with a weird idea for a blog and then get a book deal when it becomes popular for a week" thing. Seems like there are a few different routes:

- What's it like to be a "x" - opinionista (NY lawyer), rob the bouncer, waiterrant, etc.
- Do "x" for a year or otherwise adjust your life in some way (e.g., "100 things") and blog about it
- Humor site like stuff white people like

I totally wish I had come up with this idea. It could make me a bunch of money and then I wouldn't have to worry about pursuing a life of the mind in which I denounce vapid crap like this.

I linked to your site via Andrew Sullivan's ... I have to admit to my first, intuitive thought about the living-like-Oprah experiment: If it was me, I'd be broke, exhausted, surrounded by STUFF and utterly bonkers within a week!

In other words, I'm a low-key, simple-living, slow-as-molasses homebody (especially now, in the dog days of summer) ...

I wonder, though: if someone is living "Your Best Life" according to Oprah, isn't she living (or trying to live) Oprah's best life? ;-)
