A crab shack in Seattle might be good, but it's never going to be "old-fashioned", since they are not traditional in the Northwest.
Tye, you should try 'missed connections' on craigslist.
The perfect ending to this story would be Tye catching crabs from an escort that he hired to forget about Kirsten.
Crab Pot on Pier 57 serves that 'crab shack' style of food where they dump everything on a table and you bib up and start grabbin/eating.
Jack's Fish Spot & Crab Pot in Pike Place Market is less touristy/way more grungy but pretty good for just cooked crab.
One Note on the Crab Pot. . . Crab Pot doesn't give you very much crab in the mix that they dump on yer table. Plenty of corn and potaotes tho'.
Crabs are gross.
he better not be talking about my stepdaughter kirsten.
I know tons of Kirstens - maybe if he had a physical description that kind of might help ...
Jack's in the market is definitely the place for fresh seafood in Seattle. A table or windows, no, but great chowder, oysters, fish chips, absolutely.
Crab Shack is a chain, is that what they're looking for? It's a reasonable* facsimile of a decent seafood restaurant.
*if you're not coastal, that is.
If you want more crab or want to go in another direction, Seven Star Pepper on the SW corner of 12th and Jackson has great Szechwan or Ginger Dungeness. Plus dried string beans and hand-shaven noodles.
What the hell is a "crab shack"?
Explorer @4 describes what I think of when I think "crab shack" -- a primitive place, preferably with no electricity or paint on the walls, where crabs are boiled and served very plainly, on newsprint or the like, out of doors. I don't know where they originated; my top guesses would be Chesapeake Bay, Charlestown, New Orleans, or someplace in Florida. Definitely not here, though we do have a crab tradition.
Alki Crab & Fish isn't a bad idea at all. The seafood there is fine and it's low-key -- shackish even -- with the bait and tackle shop next door. The excursion becomes more fun by taking the Water Taxi from Pier 55 and it lands you right at Alki Crab. If you bring your bike on board, it's a nice ride up to Alki Beach for an ice cream.
DAVID SCHMADER AND SLOG: maybe you can help me find a blue-haired homo on Capital Hill?
Please see post here: http://forums.thestranger.com/showthread.php?t=18689
"He's got blue hair, dark features, (maybe wears makeup on eyes?), maybe 5'10", smokes cigarettes, had a gray or green messenger bag, was drinking blueberry lager beer(?!), possibly lives around Pike-Pine close to I-5, in his 20s?
He may have accidently taken my keys from my girlfriend." :(
What are the chances of her even seeing this ad?....Anyone?
