BARACK Atah Adonai, indeed.

I am already sick of the word "gaffe." Who says "gaffe" except in the highly specific area of news stories about campaign misstatements? Where did this come from? Who started it?

Obama's got a great uncle.

Did you hear Obama's uncle talking about when Sen McCain showed up in their town to talk about how he fought in the Crimean War with a rusty bayonet and bounced Obama's uncle on his knee? It's a great story, too bad McCain's memories of that have faded with time ...

I say "gaffe". What I don't say is "avail" as a noun, as in "McCain canceled his avail today", which makes me want to go hog wild with a Gatling gun.

The Repubs are going to have to address the fact that their candidate is senile and possibly showing early-stage Alzheimer's anger and inappropriateness, though.

We won't support ball-less NO-Bama and will re-defeat him in November!!!

#3, I'm with you. It is overused, too. A gaffe is supposed to be an error. Saying poor Americans cling to guns and religion is not a gaffe, it's an opinion. Confusing Sunnis and Shiites, referring to the Iraqi/Pakistani border, referring to Czechoslovakia, and thinking Vladimir Putin is the president of Germany: all gaffes.

Of course the "Seattle bag ban" will pass, despite the fact that anyone who has done the slightest bit of research will realize it to be little more than a foolish knee-jerk reaction. Then again, seems like everyone's trying to jump on the "going green" bandwagon these days...

You're an idiot, Seattle Crime Blogger. What are you, fourteen? Fourteen-year-old right-wingers are embarrassing.

"Clearly to me it's proof that there's no limit to what a man will do to man and what government out of control will do," he said. "I guess we need to be on our guard eternally."

Now THAT'S a quote. Dig it. Throw that one in the torture-mongers' faces.

Max,

It'll stop when Jewish voters stop being one of the most powerful and unified voting blocs in the country. So, in essence, never. And McSame isn't exactly dogging Israel, either, dontcha think?

And SCB, it's not a ban, it's a fee. If I have to pay a fee for a license to do anything, or have something, a bag fee will only change my habits. People are finally paying for what they have been getting free forever, so BFD. When a bag fee comes to Chicago, I'll just keep bringing in the canvas and reusable paper bags.

Fnarf,

Please, leave your "insights" at the door. Your pretentiousness speaks for itself, and I see no need wasting time to explain myself to your kind. If I'm a "rightwinger" because I oppose a senseless fee that serves little purpose beyond giving environmentalists a hard-on, so be it.

You certainly should be embarassed...and its got nothing to do with 14 year old conservatives.

i went over to some right-wing blogs to see what was making buzz over there. the funny thing is, it's not about mccain's gaffes (or opinions), but obama's. seriously. it is strange, but the clip of him saying he has visited 57 of the states so far (just a verbal slip) is all over. so is his confusing auschwitz with buchenwald, and his uncle with his great uncle.

it was very strange. like opposite world.

Fuck off, SCB. Seriously, get the hell away from Slog. I'm not talking about the bag fee, which I oppose; I'm talking about your typical 'seems like everyone's trying to jump on the "going green" bandwagon these days...' remark, which is too stupid to even qualify as right-wingery.

I've read your blog; you're a brownshirt. You think mob rule is a good idea. You think Ayn Rand is a sensible writer. You're full of shit, and I'm not letting you pass. We'll both be happier if you go the fuck away. Stick to your police scanner and your basement bloghole. Seriously, asswipe, you are Dwight Schrute, and we are all laughing at you. Post again and we'll laugh some more.

When I lived in east St Louis, I noticed that my Mom went to this place a lot. She brought her own bags and made sure they were always left in the car for the next trip. It's not going to be hard if you plan ahead, it's the impulse buys that are going to get people.

When did SLOG become a pissing ground for little boys? Grow up, losers.

Ugh, why even bother? SCB is a well-known douchebag.

Being a raging, apathetic asshole is one thing, but telling others to focus more on their own lives while calling yourself "Seattle Crime Blogger" and listening to a police scanner all day? Priceless.

On the subject of toxic air fresheners, I'm not surprised. I've never smelled one of those that didn't make me break out in hives. Nasty, nasty stuff. I can taste it on my tongue just moments after (although I can say the same about Lush and Body Shop).

Posted by Fnarf | July 23, 2008 11:25 AM

@23,

Yes, but artificial fragrances have a very special sinus scorching quality that the Body Shop et al just can't emulate.

Posted by keshmeshi | July 23, 2008 12:14 PM

And now you see why I do not comment on Slog that much any more. It's trying to have a conversation with liberal and conservative mental retards. In other words a waste of time.

@24, maybe. But I recently drove past the Lush in Portland, at about 30 MPH, and the smell completely permeated the car even though the windows were rolled up. No one uses the artificial ones in as concentrated a dose, not even my aunt.

Meanwhile Robert Novak, in addition to being a known traitor, is running down pedestrians and leaving the scene with his Escalade.

I find it amazing they could not get the future POTUS one of those beanies WITH the propeller. His advance team is falling down hard.

JTC @ 29, I think the propeller beanie is currently in use at the White House. In fact, I think W. was spinning his propeller when he made his most infamous Decider-things.

Obama's great uncle liberated Auschwitz? OMG! Obama's great uncle is a secret Soviet Red Army soldier!

I think the media uses the word "gaffe" because "fuck up" isn't allowed.

Obama tells the Isrealites that the banking committee is HIS committee and goes on and on about what his committee will do. Too bad the Isrealites don’t know he was NEVER a member of the banking committee !!~!! This man will stop at nothing to elevate himself. He is a SCARY Man
