I don't have a hard time believing we need that land for environmental reasons. So, condemn it and buy it under eminent domain. If it's constitutional to do it so a shopping mall can be built, I'm certain we can do it to save our watershed.

Um, guys, it's summer - the day lasts until 9 pm now. The reason daytime crime is lower in the winter is the day is shorter.

That said, Georgetown and Fremont are safer now that the thieves moved to the Hill.

All this dogpiling on Ang Lee the last couple weeks puzzles me. The guy had the chance to make a summer comic book blockbuster and did it up arty. Sure, it was kind of forgettable, and suffered from the same Hollywood tics as Brokeback Mountain, but fuck if the clip from it posted here last week wasn't a hell of a lot more interesting than anything I have seen from the new one, which just looks like a bunch of obvious, obvious, easy. What is really weird is people thinking they can throw a Hulk movie out there without anyone noticing this was just done like four years ago. What do you call a retread of a retread? This is like when Paul Figgis Higgis or whatever made 'Crash', not so many years after David Cronenberg made a very acclaimed movie of the same name. People act like indie film just doesn't exist, and it is NOT helpful if you want to see better and smarter films.

If I was Ang Lee, I'd be all, "Hey, I'm Ang Lee, what the hell did you expect?"

Of course now I am hypnotized, because I just used the word 'indie' to describe two studio productions, as in the new generally-accepted meaning of 'indie' which really means 'Hollywood 'indie'' or 'quirky'. Sorry.

@ 15: I'm trying something entirely new. As much as I love it here (obviously--you don't stick around for 14 years if you hate it) I want a new challenge. Plus, there's only so many times you can eat at Ballet. That curry mock chicken is crack!
