I guess they can't answer either of the pink phones hanging by this comments box if they ring, either...

Supporting limits to late-term abortions, which already exist, is "selling [people] down the river"? Exaggerate much?

To be fair, pink-colored sporting gear is fucking stupid. (Especially fan clothes.)

Incredulously? Obama isn't FOOLED by the TRUE motives behind your pink mitts!

#2, it was a predicted ECB reaction, so yes, exaggerate much.

I think that was supposed to be the real Erica reaction relayed by Eli, if she's still at her desk. If she was misrepresented, she should say so, but that's about par for her comments today.

Pink baseball mitts for girls are useless, like that "OMG Girls Can Do Math if it's about lipstick" book by Danica McKellar. Girls can play baseball-- and do math-- without pink props.

And if his kids had been in a photo with pink baseball mitts, we might be reading an Erica rant about it.

I'm fed up.

Baby blue baseball mitts are the way to go.

I think they know, sepoloida. His last line is supposedly Erica's reaction to the story, and that's what is being addressed.

@1,

That's the corniest thing I've ever read.

#9, I've seen worse, errr... "wurst".

This *is* Jubilation T. Cornball we're talking about here...

Sorry. "Here's the ECB reaction..." wasn't clear to me, whether it's the actual ECB reaction or some standardized type of reaction named after ECB.

There is no doubt in my mind that Barack Obama hates women, and this cinches it. My deepest and closest friends - people I would swallow a box of drywall tacks for - show our solidarity with women by sitting down when we urinate. Obama could rebuild his damaged credibility by doing the same, and proving he has done so.

Selling us down the river on abortion? Really? Honestly? Jesus fucking Christ. Get a grip.

Erica, to win Obama needs the votes of reasonable pro-choice folks in the "middle", not Maleficent feminazis like you. Do you want to win or not?

Exactly, #3. Any real feminist would be insulted by the pink. Subtext being, you can't possibly appreciate the sport in and of itself, let's lure you with some pretty pink!

the abortion position was in response to this:

@12 Can I be your deepest & closest friend? I really want to see you eat a box of drywall 'tacks' whatever the hell they are... we always used sheetrock screws. You could eat those, though.

ektachrome-- feminazis? Eww. What a terrible characterization.

Erica is a feminist and that's a good thing. But she can't stand Obama, and that's potentially dangerous from someone who should agree with his positions on most issues. It seems from her post history that she is quick to attack but slow to defend, and often mischaracterizes and generalizes in a big way. And she's welcome to do it-- but I really wish people could be more even-handed and logical, and she reminds me that so many are not.

Hey @12,
I don't sit down when I urinate out of feminist solidarity, I sit down when I urinate because I'm lazy!

I sit down when I urinate at my place and friends' places because it keeps the toilet clean longer, and I'll be damned if I'm not the only one cleaning my toilet.

Public toilets can go to hell, though.

I'll bet the drag queens who played in the Bat'N Rouge charity softball game on Capitol Hill last month are wondering where they can find pink baseball mitts.

Bob: You're getting all excited about a conversation over how bad Obama is between different groups of anti-Obama Hillary dead-enders. It's a circle jerk.

Obama's popularity is still rising in spite of the manufactured outrage. But maybe you're into circle jerks. That's cool.

Posted by elenchos | July 7, 2008 8:06 PM

elenchos, thanks for the unsolicited analysis and all ... but this is no circle jerk, this is Obama selling out the true believers who hated Hillary because she long ago sold out the true believers, and that is some serious irony.

So call it what you'd like, I think it's a winner. I expect more and more of these posts. I can hardly wait.

It's not unsolicited, Bob. It says "Post a Comment" right here. But I suppose you're right: no matter how well Obama does, you aren't going to be embarrassed by how wrong you were.

"this is Obama selling out the true believers who hated Hillary because she long ago sold out the true believers"

@24...I'm an Obama supporter, and I had no problem with Hillary's positions. I saw it as prudent for someone so connected to the left to move center after her election in NY, which BTW, was the only way she would ever have been able to run for president, which was the whole point in her running for senate in the first place. So, I also have no issue with Obama positions.

Everything, absolutely everything, that either Hillary Clinton supporters, or McCain supporters bitch and moan about can be thrown right back into their faces, because their candidates did exactly the same. I'm all for change, but we have to win first.

Good for Obama! The pink girly sports stuff is ridiculous... especially Red Sox hats. Let his daughters play baseball with real gloves.
