Whew. I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw AP photos of Betancourt's reunion with her family and thought, "My God, her son's cute!"

But yeah, props to the Colombian government for getting her and the other hostages out!

I, too, have been breathlessly waiting for more pics of the son. I'm so shallow. I hate myself.

On a related note, does anybody else read "unspecified US government involvement" in the rescue as "we sent in a bunch of pipe-hittin' motherfuckers"? The whole operation -- especially the Che Guevara T-shirts on the infiltrators -- just screams "Delta Force!" to me. At least, it screams "Delta Force" as depicted on The Unit.
