The reason I myself don't think its particularly "required viewing" is because the video is terrible and I honestly hate the music.

The singer looks like a great person, the lyrics are interesting, but the beat is tired and contrived, uninteresting, and unoriginal. And the music video is painful to watch.

Judging from other comments they are "much better live" and, considering this, I would actually recommend an amendment to Dan's orders: "required to see this group live".

Just because it is about "faggettes" and interesting forms of sexuality does not give it any excuse to be so bland and cliche. Too often I find homosexual-themed media (be it music, movie, or television) to be forgiven if it sucks just because it deals with gay issues. "Who cares if it was poorly written and terribly acted! Who cares if it looks like it was filmed using my cell phone's video capture! It's about gays so it is awesome!"

Ugh. Lets try to keep gay themed works on the same standards as everything else please, and not just give it a pass because its gay.

I'll give you the idea that gay media that is poorly made is generally praised because of its subject matter rather than its production value (Noah's Arc is HORRIBLY acted, written, all of it, yet it's about black, gay men and therefore it's championed)--but the low quality is usually because of a lack of widespread funding.

I'm not saying I'm an expert, and I do like the ABC's song and video. But until there are media conglomerates offering to bank roll some great GLBTQ material, we're going to continue to get low-quality, youtube-esque film.

This video rocks! It is creative, visually stimulating, well developed plot, set and costumes, quality lighting, well edited. It may have also been done on a small budget, more DIY than polished expensive.

Hooray for hot queer art!
