The Basic Education Finance Taskforce chaired by Dan Grimm seems poised to make recommendations that would require more spending by the state. With a $2.5 billion dollar hole projected, that's going to be hard, but it will get even harder if the courts force more spending vis-a-vis the lawsuit being heard in 2009.

So I'd like to know what her vision is for schools here in Washington, and how she intends to pay for it.

Ask her why Frank Chopp took money that was to be used by the convention center for capital improvement and upgrades and put it towards "afforable housing" and she didn't do anything about it. There is a certain irony in taking money that would help provide new jobs for low income people and spending it on so called affordable housing.

UW has been begging and begging for money from the Legislature for years, and eventually did this $2.5B campaign because the campus is woefully underfunded. Meanwhile, the Legislature decided that with the $2.5B in the bank UW doesn't need money, and instead is trying to foist an unfunded mandate of an Everett campus onto it. The Legislature accuses UW of ignoring undergraduate education while failing to fund enough seats in Seattle to handle the crush of undergrad applicants.

So, to the governor, I ask: Will you make higher education a priority in this administration? Will you get the Legislature to fund the necessary capital improvements on classroom buildings? And will you push the Legislature to increase capacity at UW and WSU?

It's not too late to show that tens of thousands of votes were stolen for Rossi (and by extension, Bush). Hey wait, how was that money collected and what was the intended purpose of that money? you don't know anything about the situation and you certainly don't know why 60 million taken from the convention center is bad for the hotel industry which employs a lot of people here.

do you know how much convention business we lose because our convention center isn't large enough? do you know what that 60 mil could have done to help in that situation? do you know how much revenue the convention center helps generate?
