Awesome blog. For some reason it was the "It a gril" cake that really made me lose it.

Great blog. I was laughing my ass off.

And if I ever get married I'm getting that Bond cake!

Times have changed. 20+ years ago we wanted to have a surprise wedding shower for a colleague, so billed it as a baby shower for my wife (and our soon to be daughter).

Another colleague went along to Remo Borrachini's to order a simple sheet cake with the slogan:

"Happy Wedding, Happy Baby"

and THEY REFUSED to do so.

As someone who enjoys cake decorating, I really have to wonder what some of these people were thinking when they ordered their cakes. I mean, did they not ask to see a sample of the decorator's work first? Did they not get any kind of preview of the horror that was to come? Or did they all just pay their great aunt Stella 20 bucks to slap some pre-made synthet-o frosting on a Betty Crocker because they were too cheap or too dumb to seek out an actual bakery with actual trained professionals?

Maybe they were victims of a disgruntled bakery employee? Who knows

@4 - CNN had this cake in all of it's egomaniacal glory, complete with backstory on the front page in the days following the wedding...the bride said it had always been her dream to have a doll fashioned to look like her, so while making wedding plans, her future husband decided he'd do the next best thing...

Somehow I can't imagine that's how it went down though...

These are what I'd expect if Amy Sedaris made cakes.

then I scroll down and see the words "a paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush." Put that on a frilly orange and purple cake, please.
