Obama’s Ludacris Critique: “He Should Be Ashamed of These Lyrics”

posted by on July 30 at 11:55 AM

The new Ludacris track draws fire from the Obama campaign:

“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to,” said spokesman Bill Burton. “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

Can someone post the lyrics so I don't have to watch the video?

My friend David had a very strong crush on Ludacris that I never understood. But now they're permanently associated.

For elswinger (excuse the formatting):

I'm back on it like I just signed my record deal
yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
never should have hated
you never should've doubted him
with a slot in the president's iPod Obama shattered 'em
Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant
Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
if you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!
and all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man
you can't stop what's bout to happen, we bout to make history
the first black president is destined and it's meant to be
the threats ain't fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
so get off your a ss, black people, it's time to get out and vote!
paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in ANY chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw em like candy wrap
cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents
get out and vote or the end will be near
the world is ready for change because Obama is here!
cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!

These lyrics arent meant to be a rallying cry for white people. It is speaking to Luda's fans who will find this hilarious.

It's not THAT bad, although calling Hillary a bitch is really played out.

If you stay silent on Luda callin Hillary a bitch, then you call-out McCain for his cunt-bomb utterance. Can't have it both ways, so...

Meh. I get bored with the kabuki. Obama's not really outrages, McCain's not really offended, and no one really cares.

Obama is really running a masterful campaign. First off, he is way too intelligent to not know that his friendship with Reverend Wright would become an issue.Although it didn't look that way, Obama's delayed response was so that they could milk every ounce of free publicity from the fallout and ensure he had everyones attention when he did finnaly speak out. Obama was prepared for it, in fact Reverend Wright helped Obama's campaign. By calling out Wright, Obama proved to white America that he isn't afraid to box the ears of a militant black man . Second,it made it appear that Obama is a natural leader and that he does have the potential to bring unity to the country and isn't afraid to stand up for himself. So why would Obama make the same mistake a second time? According to Obama, Ludacris was one of his fave rappers and was on his IPOD. So he had to have known that Luda wasn't exactly The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. But he buddy's up to the reknowned studio gangster anyway and lo and behold...Luda spits some stupid lyrics in a weak song, that will now bring him scads of free publicity and keep his "street cred" somewhat in tact. Obama again gets to box the ears of a militant black man and speak out against mysoginistic rap lyrics as well as defend Clinton & McCain. Both men will gain exposure from this, albeit in very different ways. Obama will look like a leader, someone who will bring unity to the country. Ludacris will further enhance his rep for being an edgy, egotistical , boastful rapper. The same outcome for Reverend Wright, he didn't lose out on his exchange with Obama, in fact I'm sure he attracted more people to his church that share the same beliefs as him. This is how the Obama campaign is demonstrating Obama's leadership skills, because he has no prior experience to point to, it must be made up as he rolls through his campaign. Obama's campaign has been the best one I have seen, bravo. Obama is just another politician, he has just injected politics with a little more personality & charm. He is likable, charismatic and well spoken. But he is just another politician with his own agenda, just like John McCain.

@14, thanks for proving that it's not just Ludracris who has no talent for writing.

Obama is a politician? What's next -- the sky is blue?

So he's a mastermind who can plot and control events months, if not years, in advance by playing millions of people like puppets while amassing a huge fortune in campaign contributions and defying all common wisdom to defeat his party's sure-thing nominee and become the first black major-party candidate for President-- but he's not a leader? Gotcha.

And if you really think he has no experience, then you're as well-read as you are well-spoken.

If there are real reasons for you to dog Obama (other than you being a paid McCain shill), you haven't found or articulated them yet.

Next!
