Not Quite the Rubber Chicken Circuit

But close. The chow at today’s Michelle Obama fundraiser for Gov. Christine Gregoire, as seen from the press riser:

How much for the fancy salad, semi-elegant strawberry schortcake, big roll ‘o bread, and high-powered speechifying? $200 a person.

You forgot the rolls and neat balls-o-butter!

All those carbs are a Muslim plot.

What did they feed you on the press riser -- a steaming plate of bullshit?

Well, that's the difference between a $200 fundraiser, and lunch at a $200 a head restaurant, I guess.

It's a fund raiser. Did you expect it to be free?

And the folding chairs!  Scandalous!!!

I've never been a $200/plate political fundraiser, so I don't know.  Is this really atypically cheap?  Or is Eli just letting HRC bitterness push him uncritically toward any opportunity for Obama snark he sees?

I suspect the latter, for the same reasons as NapoleonXIV @4 and elswinger @5.

We won't support ball-less NO-Bama and will re-defeat him in November!!!

Everybody just fucking chillax!!! Eli's post is just a harmless snark...no ulterior motive, no "Hillary's rolls would have had seeds!!!" shrillness.

Please. You guys have more of an agenda than he seems to. I appreciate the peek into the event, myself -- I didn't have $200 to go there...Save me a roll, Eli!

Looks exactly like the meals I get at trade show banquets. Fancy, non-filling salad, hardened bread and lousy iced tea. Topped off with a desert that never has enough chocolate.

These are the meals that hotels provide for banquets. Nothing out of the ordinary, except for maybe some extra arugula.

Ok, Jube's point @8 is well taken.  I stand chastised.

Still, our collective knee-jerk was not entirely unearned (though things have been noticeably better recently).

@1 - I believe the proper term is, "butter testes"

Those rolls remind me of something but I can't quite place it....

The worst part are those fucking linty napkins. I have to spend the rest of the day rollering my thighs to get that shit off. Grr.

Would have been more fun at a shrimp BBQ ... but still, cheaper food means more funds.
