Slog - Comments on Nike Hates the Future

After I wrote this post on the hoverboards from Back to the Future II, I received an e-mail from Mickey, who is apparently behind a website intended to make Nike to produce the sneakers depicted in Back to the Future II... ...by 2015. Nike has responded with a limited-edition version of the shoes: But they don't tie themselves, which is kind of the whole point. Full story here....

Yes, the movie wasn't great, but it would be nice to get into your flying DeLorean and 'drive' to London.

Which I'm sure Will has done already.

Comment by Bill Rutherford, Princeton Admissions

Turns out they did the "self-lacing shoes" gimmick by running the laces thru holes in the floor of the set and pulling them.

That's much less impressive.

i don't know... as a sneaker fan, i don't care about the self-lacing. i always wanted the shoes. they just had to look right.

like these (from a recent ebay auction). the hyperdunks don't even look right -- laces or otherwise.
