Now that Rummi is long gone, Bolton gets my vote for Biggest Asshole in the Bush Administration (BABA) award. Ever seen him on the Daily Show or elsewhere? He's worse than Cheney. He basically argues that the American people voted for Bush, twice, so Bush gets to do whatever he feels like. A stunningly fascist view of representative democracy.

On the other hand, last I heard, Rumsfeld still had an office with the Defense Department, as a consultant...

I support handing over Bolton and Rumsfeld to the Hague for trial ASAP.

Bolton is an asshole, and I think he's probably full of shit on this one.

Israel would love to take out Iran's nuclear program. The problem is that (as good as their military is) they lack the ability to undertake a sustained bombing campaign against Iran. They could probably pull off a few raids, but the destruction of Iran's well-dug-in nuclear program would require many, many raids over a long period. I just don't think the Israeli Air Force has that kind of depth.

The US, on the other hand, does have that kind of depth. So watch out for W getting in one last major fuck up in before leaving office.

There are some crazy motherfuckers in the Israeli government, kind of like, you know, our government. But, in the end, Israelis are pragmatic. They might do all they can to get the U.S. to do their dirty work for them, but they're not going to start WWIII all on their lonesome.

I think the Israelis *will* bomb Iran. They will take the nuke facility for some small amount of time, 1-2 hours, kill everybody there, destroy the facility, and go home. Think Entebbe.

They'll do it precisely because it won't cause WWIII. The US can say "tsk, tsk, boys will be boys" and the Iranians will say "oooooooo, you crazy Zionists" and then everything will go back to its shitty base state.
