McCain’s VP Pick Coming This Week?

posted by on July 21 at 15:17 PM

Perhaps in an attempt to shove Obama’s glamorous globetrotting off the front pages?

Novak, via Drudge, says so. (And yes, I know, that’s not the most reliable combination in the business, but if I were McCain I’d be pretty desperate for some media attention right now.)

Sources close to Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign are suggesting he will reveal the name of his vice presidential selection this week while Sen. Barack Obama is getting the headlines on his foreign trip. The name of McCain’s running mate has not been disclosed, but Mitt Romney has led the speculation recently.

The Stranger office pool is rooting for Romney. You?

I think he should call Max from the Sunset. They would look really cute standing next to each other, McCain and Max, and he's very handy. Max would also balance out McCain's evil with his cute little dog.

oh, and even though Max is sweet, it wouldn't help McCain's chances any because of his lack of foreign policy experience.

1. Next srongest vote getter in primaries, check.

2. Crossover appeal via Mass. healthcare check.

3. Supposedly strong on economy check.

4. Helps in Michigan check check check check check.

5. Helps a bit in CO NV with a few mormons, check.

6. Picking some guy like pawlenty no one has ever heard of is just blah.

7. Romney still has tons of money, check.

Here's the McCain plan:

pick Romney and go for Michigan, OH, Penn.

Not in sync with McCain but I don't see this happening anytime soon. He would be wise to let Obama pick first.

Polling trends suggest that he will drop out of the race and endorse Obama.

"clintonssarmy" you are a complete douchebag. You have been posting the same comment over and over again. What a freaking loser. I am assuming you work for the McCain campaign in some fashion and your soul job is to scour "liberal" blogs and disrupt them with your silly comments. get a life you sorry sack of shit.

@23: Please don't feed the trolls. It only encourages them.

To be fair, clintonsarmy has been up to that for over a month with barely any break, and almost almost no acknowledgment from anyone. At least not under that name. Even so, I only occasionally see Odrama.

I don't think it's a matter of encouragement.

If Romney's picked, you'll watch the independents scatter to Obama like roaches in light.
