Maverick Moment of the Day

posted by on July 17 at 8:30 AM

In this week of comedic concern about Barack Obama’s sense of humor, Politico takes a look at John McCain’s joke repertoire:

Ever hear that joke about waterboarding? How about the one about killing Iranians? And why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?

If you aren’t familiar with those witty japes, then you’ve missed out on John McCain’s lighter side.

IOQ neener neener.

Truth is McCain does have a sense of humor and Barack, it seems, doesn't.

reminds me of an old joke.

A:THAT'S NOT FUNNY!!!

To recap: do NOT make fun of Obama. Because He is fundamentally different than -- and Above -- all others in politics.

First of all, are we really talking about who has a better sense of humor? Really?

Secondly, where did the "Obama has no sense of humor" meme come from? Did he not laugh at McCain's rape joke?

I have to agree that McCain has a better sense of humor than Obama, or Robin Williams for that matter.

And don't discount the value of a sense of humor in a president. As we watch this once-great nation continue its steady decline during a McCain presidency, we're going to need a leader who can buck us up with his wit. And the more politically incorrect that wit, the better.

Remember, people, we're not just electing a Commander in Chief, we're also electing a Comedian in Chief too.

I'm a loyal Democrat, so I'm voting for Obama. But if he ever starts making jokes about bombing Iran or about killing off Iranians, that's going to be all the evidence I need that the man is not fit to be Commander in Chief.

And speaking as a proud Hillary supporter, if Obama ever makes a joke about our beloved First Daughter Chelsea being ugly, that's it, I've had it. Not only am I going to vote for McCain, I'm going to campaign for him too.

Barack Obama doesn't have a sense of humor because he doesn't think that the modern-day poltical equivalent of "lol you talk like a fag" is the height, nay, the very *definition* of satire.

Jon Swift put it best:

Although liberals are often unfairly accused of being humorless, the truth is that they are so knowledgable about what makes something funny that they rarely find humor that meets their very tough standards. They are like connoisseurs of fine wine who are unable to drink anything that is not the finest vintage. When a liberal says, "That's not funny!" it is a cry from the heart from someone who longs to see something that really is funny. It's too bad the editors of the New Yorker did not consult them first before they made their ill-fated attempt at comedy.

John McCain explodes in anger at the least little thing.

I'd be careful about making jokes around him.

The guy might literally try to attack you.

And there's nothing funnier than a really old guy doing that.
