YES YES YES! I had very low expectations and at the screening on Tuesday night I was overjoyed with how fun and campy the film is! Meryl Steep you slayed me!! I loved it! The audience clapped after songs! It was super fun!

I recently (like, two days ago) learned that straight people like Abba for reasons that are totally different from gays'. I always just assumed that the only way to enjoy them was on a drag queen level, and it boggles my mind to think that it's possible to be sincerely entertained by this music. I mean ... isn't that kind of a waste of camp?

After reading the review, I'm perplexed... I thought there was a gay kiss... at the end, yes, after the banquet scene in the "Take a Chance on me" number. I know Firth pulls his hunky Greek up from their seats and they dance, but I thought they kissed too.

Then of course, there's that lovely burst water pipe scene with shirtless Greek boys everywhere.

Mamma Mia, like so very many musicals, is a classic example of brilliant music coupled with an inane book.

Anyone who derides ABBA and can't embrace their inner ABBA is a troglodyte.

It's fun pop music at its best and not pretending to be anything else.

Going to an actual live ABBA concert in the late 1970s as a teenager should have been my first clue that I was gay. Alas, I was oblivious. But I have been consumed by ABBA goodness ever since.

The iconic gay ABBA movie was already done to perfection in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. It's only fair that the heteros get a chance to do something fun with it.

Q: is there a preserved ABBA turd in Mamma Mia!?
