You just know Borders' executive team will continue to be able to travel via airline at a whim, burning away any budgetary gains by these ticky-tack maneuvers. Oh, corporate America, we love you.

While I might be a tad upset about losing the gift cards, charging for coffee would seriously piss me off. And I only drink 1 cup/day.

laterite, i dug up their financial statements and rest assured, they were only pulling in hundreds of thousands of dollars in salary and only hit millions after stock options were included. or roughly that for most executives.

I remember when Borders was one bookstore in Ann Arbor Michigan. Technically, it was two bookstores: the "good one" (used books, etc.) was "behind" the "main" store. Imagine that: Borders, an independent bookseller.
