Hollywood President

Those on the right who belittled Obama’s appearance in the image above as not being the stuff of reality but of Hollywood (Bond, Mission Impossible, and so on), these people have in fact lost all contact with American reality. What is forgotten in their thinking (and what needs reminding) is that an association with Hollywood’s spectacle of heroism is hardly a liability for a politician, particularly with a voting public that has difficulty separating what is reel and what is real.

Remember when Reagan in an interview made it clear that he actually believed he'd served in WWII, when it was actually just a movie he'd made? Good times.

Not only is this type of imagery important for the voting public, when the image DOESN'T work, it is a permanent disaster for a politician's image (see here and here).

In that case can we get Martin Sheen to run? And he has to divorce his wife and marry Stockard Channing.

Let the media keeps salivating over Odrama and keeps exposing him. Overexposure by the media is a good thing right? Come November a significant portion of people would be so turned off by the media they'll actually vote against Odrama. I know i'm sick of this worshiping of some slick politicians with little experiences. Oh wait he sure has experience w/ breaking his promise with FISA vote.

Reagan was never as hot as Obama, even when he was younger.

To quote Ronnie in KING'S ROW, "Where's the rest of me!?"

you've been drinking the smart wine today i see charles. action stars becoming politicians off of their tough guy credit is pretty common. take arnold swartzenegger(sp?) and jessie ventura for example. of course, pointing out hypocrisy and contradictions in right wing thinking is like pointing out clouds in the sky, but still...

Charles! I agree with you!
But first, I understood what you were trying to say! Plain English!

Just one of the reasons I keep peeking at Slog. Waiting for moments like this. Or, for your other moments, where I just scratch my head.
